Work experience presentation
Transcript: What I choose and why Week 2, School house restaurant Quality solicitors Chapman and Chubb is located at Somercotes and Alfreton, I spent 3 days at the Somercotes office and 2 at the Alfreton office, at the main office in Somercotes i was with team of 6 women and was mentored by the by Aileen there, Aileen surprised with the work I was aloud to do as i thought i would be just sat there all day doing nothing, but she let me work on people cases and read people's files that I was working on. But when I wasn't working on peoples files or sometimes doing letters to be sent to people I was mainly doing filing or photocopying, as that side of being a solicitor is quite important as the record of business with a client needs to be kept. The other things I did was going in on will meetings for people who wanted to make will's and i also got to draft two will's, the person I worked with on that was called Rachel and she was in charge of doing will's and she mentored me on doing wills and was very helpful, I got to saw the company archives where they stored hundreds of client records of business. When i was at the second office I learned about divorce and the different types you can have, I learned how to put in a county court claim for clients, I got to find out quantum's for clients which is where you find out how much money you would get for an injury at work or a accident caused by somebody, the person I worked with that on was called Becky, and the majority of the week I was mainly photocopying overall the first week wasn't to bad. I believe the experience was worth while as it as help me choose my career more carefully and what I really want to do, from the experience I gained a better understanding of the job and its role and that not to always think about the money and do something you enjoy to do everyday of your life because its not really job then. School house restaurant is located in South Normanton. i spent 2 1/2 days there and worked 10am-2pm the reason for working 2 1/2 days is because on Monday the restaurant was closed and I was ill another day and one of the days i had to be at school, I worked with 2 people, a chef called Rob and a side chef called Connor. At the start of each day i had to prepare veg for use that day and most of the time i was there i was preparing dishes or veg, I didn't do much cooking while I was there, but I learned some catering skills like skinning salmon, how to cut things fast and thin, how to butcher a pheasant, but I would of learned more if I had been there the full week. when i was there I made cheesecakes, beef wellingtons, bacon pouches with pheasant inside and fish cakes. I didn't really spend that much time making dishes and didn't make that much as i was left with mainly preparing veg for the day. The overall view of my second week was that it was much better than the first as i feel catering with rob was quite fun as he had great banter and didn't feel bored like i did most of the time on my first week as the task's set except veg prep were more enjoyable. Work experience presentation By Alex Ford Week 1, quality solicitors Chapman and chubb For my first week i choose a solicitors, the reason why I choose a solicitors, is because i considered it a possibly career path for me when i am older and because they earn a lot of money. The second week I got to work in restaurant, I wanted to work in a restaurant because I enjoy catering and it is something I might want to do at college and then hopefully become a baker or something involving confectionery, I prefer the desert and cake side of catering than savory. what i got from the experience and is it worth while
