The S-TV-DO The Subject-Transitive Verb-Direct Object A Transitive verb has two characteristics. First, it is an action verb, expressing a doable activity like sing, run, eat, write, park, clean, etc. Second, it must have adirect object, something or someone who receives the action of the verb. Direct Object is a noun or pronoun that receives the action of a verb or shows the result of the action. It answers the question "What?" or "Whom?" after an action verb. An action verb with a direct object si called a Trasitive verb. Here are some examples of transitive verbs and their direct object. The martial arts coach kicked Johnny on his thigh. kicked - trasitive verb; Johnny - direct object EX. Jonathan wants something from Leony, his bestfriend for more than five years. wants - transitive verb; something - direct object EX. Amaya conquered the lands of the Lumad people. conquered - trasitive verb; lands - direct object EX. A. Arrange the words in an order to make sense (Subject + Transitive Verb + Direct Object). Filipinos patronize pirated DVDs. 1. Filipinos / pirated DVDs / patronize 2. Rovi / last month / this picture / painted Rovi painted this picture last month. 3. two / letters / I / this morning / wrote I wrote two letters this morning. B. Use the following verbs to construct sentences that shows S-TV-DO pattern. 1. introduce The teachers introduces the English book in the class. 2. display Mylene and Sarah diplay the vases they made on my shop. 3. made The baker made pancakes this morning.
