Nick Tadd and Vanessa Warwick are delighted
to announce the launch of ...
why ...
what ...
Are these events about ...? : A monthly gathering of like-minded people interested in learning how to optimise the social web and social media.
Should you care ...? : Because optimising the Social Web and Social Media is more than just being on twitter and facebook. It's not about marketing. It's about Influence. It's about conversation. It's about listening.

Above all it's about being connected and achieving connected - ness. Anyone can be connected, but are you being shared?

Consumers are telling you what they want and there are some very simple web tools to use to listen and engage.
let me explain ...
... in the beginning there was Web 1.0. Web 1.0 operated much like a High Street shop, it was static and you fed it by traditional marketing.

So you paid for eyeballs via pay-per-click (PPC), search engine opptimisation (SEO), or Google AdWords (GA).

There is nothing wrong with this. However, the web has changed somewhat. Web 1.0 supported "static" web-sites that you had to point people towards, because that's all you could do - there were no conversations.

It looked something like this ...
But now there is another way ...
... now we have Web 2.0 and this allows us all (consumers) to "aggregate" and "self-publish" information to the web. Therefore, a decline in the dominance of static web-sites.

Consumers now trust recommendations for products and services via peer review. Conversations via blogs and social networking sites etc are influencing consumer choices and have opened up another "business exposure" channel.

Consumers are influencing other consumers as opposed to listening to advertising.

So with the "free flow" of information around the web and the fact that the web is owned by the people, we have a vastly different way of "engagement" - and this is the social web, using social media.

Social Media and Social Communications allow you to listen and engage.

It looks like this ...
What is the difference?
the difference is huge ...
You can't market to the "Social Web" but you can influence it via Social Media.
so
... bearing in mind 78% trust "consumer review" over direct advertising, in other words Web 2.0 over Web 1.0 - if you're not in the conversation and not leveraging Social Media, you're less than 50% effective with your web efforts. Remember more and more people are trying to find YOU on the web.
That's why we started this monthly networking event
To enable us all to optimise the Social Web. We will be bringing you powerful keynote speakers on all topics and sites to help us all get the best out of Web 2.0 and the Social Web via all the disciplines of Social Media.
but
Just being on the Social Media sites will not deliver results. Using them with effect will.

You can't turn off the Internet. Therefore, Social Media is not going away. The essence of Social Media is to share ... that's what we will be doing every month.
There are 31 billion searches done on Google every MONTH.

Most of these searches turn up Social Media sites.

Question: Are you being found?
