Are your child's teacher at the top of their game?
Why is a 1-to-1 program an essential
component of my child's education?
Is my child being taught all
the skills needed to be prepared
 for the future?
What does an innovative, engaging curriculum look like?
How do I know my child's teachers are at the top of their game?
Just Say YES!
There's still a thesis, critical thinking
and supporting arguments. We just added
creativity, student engagement, and the teaching of
collaboration.
We've selected some very good models.
“Increasingly I think the digital divide is less about access to technology
and more about the difference between those who know how and those
who don’t know how to use it.”
Howard Rheingold, Professor Stanford Center for Innovation, Berkley
25% of Upper School Faculty present at National Conferences:
the topics are on innovative, contemporary curriculum made
possible by the intentional implementation of technology.
10% of faculty have been invited to do workshops
at other independent schools.
The world is small.
Our students use technolgoy
to learn with students around the
world.
So many reasons
Innovation and Individualism
OneNote
Electronic Course Content
Technology enhances the student-teacher interaction.
It gives voice to every child and allows for individual
instruction. It is not a wall but a window into learning.
...as many reasons as individuals
When in life, will they use paper and pencil?
Prepare students for their future not ours.
Best of the old with the best of the new.

Making Innovation Tradition
One Course, Two Continents
Coming 2010 -
along with an entire new Upper School curriculum
because we believe in student choice...
social media tools help
students connect and interact -
and sometimes roll play
Our Library page combines
social media tools, access to
extensive databases, and wikiguides
to help students research effectively.

"It isn't information overload, its filter failure."
Clay Shirky

Students created a 30 minute documentary on
the crisis in Sudan and raised money for the cause.
Communication is no longer print medium.
Just ask the newspapers!
Your child needs to know how to communicate
in multimedia, hyperlinked world
Sustained writing about a real world topic
creates relevancy for students. Its their world
and they have real ideas and imagination.
It is also important that they write and communicate
with a global audience, not just the teacher.
Technology should be 1:1, student thought can be
1:many.
MICDS understands assessment
really isn't just quizzes and tests.
Projects demonstrate understanding.
Portfolios measure the development of skills.
The best curriculum designers come to
campus to ensure faculty keep their A game.
