I have a few very non-techie tricks:
YouTube @pbriscoe
further e-ventures in Studying, Working and Living!
I'm also a person/user/presence in hundreds of spaces online & offline that are all parts of me
Here's what I get up to in a
fairly typical (term time) day!
8am - 9.45am
Via Radio 4
Reply to Texts
Twitter - read and post some Tweets!
Synch podcasts to iPod
Check email - GMail; Staffmail
WebCT - updates/discussions/grades
Facebook - browse/reply/check events
Delicious - bookmark and share anything interesting (bookmarks relayed to Facebook, website, blog, RSS streams).
Check Paper Diary/Calendar/eDiary/Google Calendar - for meetings/dental check ups/parties/trips - anything important I might have forgotten!
10am - 2pm
Staffmail - where 90% of my work originates!
eDiary in IE, browsing in FireFox, Wave/radio in Chrome
Googlemail - some work alerts and social alerts come here.
TweetDeck, Google Wave - all day, lets me join conferences, view trends, share links.
Follow up emails, Tweets & networking about new tech, new sites, new funding, conferences etc. Bookmark and tag everything.
University Wiki (Confluence) - day to day notes/drafts.
iGoogle - feeds for tech/social media news.
Try out new tools as they appear - Google Wave,
Simile Widgets, Mobile apps etc.
Listen to podcasts as I work - Guardian Tech Weekly, RadioLab, MediaTalk etc. (bookmark & tag everything interesting).
2pm - 3pm (Lunch Time!)
WebCT - check for updates, discussions, grades etc.
Discussions - add comments if appropriate.
Check in/add to course blog and/or lifestream
Check student mail
Find/Print any key readings from WebCT.
3pm - 6pm
Staffmail; wiki service; ediary; Googlemail; TweetDeck; Google Wave
Skype with colleagues (Warrington & Europe)
EDINA Intranet - post any completed
reports and check minutes here.
Bookmark anything interesting (for work or study) with delicious.
Listen to podcasts or Spotify. And/or view and participate in streamed events/conferences.
Lots of ever-changing work tasks - meetings, reports, researching social media for projects, etc.
If I'm preparing a specific report - use Word or PowerPoint in office but often save copy to Wiki or GoogleDocs for home editing/sharing with colleagues
6pm - Midnight
Login to WebCT, course blogs, student email.
Keep an eye on Googlemail and Twitter.
Course discussions and/or course activities, course readings.
Maybe participate in a tutorial in Second Life or on Skype.
Or attend a networking/Meet Up group event.
Check Facebook, Flickr etc.
If assignment is coming up: browse readings, find related articles and ideas (via search and WebCT - almost never library search), consult peers via Twitter, email or course discussion boards, work on draft on Google Docs, save all usable references via specific delicious tag.
If no assignment due: synch camera to computer and Flickr and/or record and edit a podcast and/or see a film, to see friends and/or update blog.
If it's Eurovision time: build up my personal website and eurovision wiki, work on our zine, set up some social media interaction: CoverItLive, countdowns, RSS feeds etc, might watch something communally with TV on and laptop backchat.

Some Top Tips for Innovating with social media:
Share what you know - it's good networking karma!
Let friends and collegues know you are interested in hearing about what they do/know.
Don't be afraid to suggest new ideas and ask what might seem like silly questions.
Think about how anything you want to do can be achieved and how it fits into your area of work.
Always be reasonable and aware of conduct/style when blending work, social media, and personal life.
If you fancy gaining new skills have a go - it's always a good idea as long as you find it fun/interesting!
Meet people in your sector on or offline so you know who to ask and work with (before you need to).
But there is also SO much more
super cool stuff out there...
Open Source TV!
Educational Manga!
Automatic Animation!
Beautiful Visualisations
Virtual Graduations
Augmented Reality!
And.... Haggis & Mash in 2010...
Innovative Tech Art
