Tracking Changes: The Legitimation of International Organizations between 1970 and 2010

on what grounds do international organizations    claim legitimacy;
how have they been legitimized or delegitimized by their member states and the non-state audiences with which they interact; and
how do they actively manage their own legitimacy?

Legitimation is here understood as the process through which a general
perception of rightful governance is generated (see Barker 2001).
Our questions
Conceptualizing Norms and Normative Change (level of analysis, un-stated cognitive scripts)
Methods and Methodology (consistent coding in the team)
Operationalization of Interactions (selecting speakers, selecting audiences)
