Welcome to McGovern Library Welcome to the George and Eleanor McGovern Library and Center for Leadership and Public Service The Circulation Desk is where you check out all library materials, including laptops and cameras. Judy Lehi (995-2894) is our Cirulation Supervisor. For information about McGovern Library's circulation policy visit http://www.dwu.edu/library/circulation_policy.htm Librarians are available to help you locate information for all your class assignments. Stop by the director's office to get help. You can also phone (995-2617) or email (kekenkel@dwu.edu) to get help. DWU's special collections include the Jennewein Western Library and the Boyajian Civil War Collection. The DWU Bookstore is located at the north end of the library's first floor. Check out McGovern Library's collection of DVDs, Blu-rays, and other media. The library has over 6,500 streaming films that can be viewed online. If you need help with media equipment contact Rod Brown (995-2685). The Mac Lab is available for student use other than when classes are scheduled. This lab is accessible 24/7. Enjoy sitting by the fireplace and drinking a cup of coffee while reading a new book, a newspaper, or a magazine. Now let's head upstairs! The main book collection is located upstairs. McGovern Library has around 75,000 volumes in its collection. The library also has over 85,000 e-books that can be viewed on a computer or downloaded to an e-reader. Back issues of periodicals are located upstairs. McGovern Library's curriculum collection supports elementary and secondary education majors. The Margaret Teufel Children's Collection was endowed by alumnus Margaret Teufel. This collection is available to the young and the young at heart. Librarians use this computer lab to teach students how to use the library. It's available to all when not in use by instructors. McGovern Library has 8 group study rooms with a variety of seating options. Two group study rooms have televisions and DVD players for viewing movies. Laurie Langland is the Univeristy and Conference Archivist. Two major collections in the university archives are the Senator Francis Case Collection and the Senator George McGovern Collection. TRiO Student Support Services offers tutoring services, writing support, and much more. Thanks for touring McGovern Library. Please remember that we are here to help you. All you need to do is ask for assistance. Our collection is organized using the Library of Congress classification system. This system uses a combination of letters and numbers to create a unique call number for each book. The reference collection consists of encyclopedias and other books, e-books, atlases, and databases. McGovern Library has more than 50 databases available for students to use. Kelly Henkel is our Cataloging / Serials Librarian. She updates the catalog with new items and maintains the library’s periodicals.
