Proposal
Lowering the drinking age would solve a lot of problems we have now:
- Binge Drinking
- DUI's
- Car Accidents
- Death amongst Teenagers
- Unintentional Injuries
- Alcohol Poisoning
- Sexually Transmitted Dieases
- Unintended Pregnancy
- Child born with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders
- Liver Disease
My Research
- Did online survey 10 questions
- Needed between 40-50 participants
- Tested my theories and the experts theories
Proposal
If a person starts to abuse alcohol, they will be tattooed with a "No Alcohol" symbol and they will have a limit on how much alcohol they can get.
Proposal
If this proposal did happen, teens wouldn't feel the rush of breaking the law by drinking underage. Thus eliminating binge drinking.
If teens aren't binge drinking and they are being responsible about their drinking (because they learn at a young age), they wont drive or get into a car driven by someone who is under the influence.
How many drinks are you having?
If you drink too much one night, don't be too hard on yourself just take it as a learning experience for next time! Also.....
What is a standard drink?
Activity!
- Get into groups of 4 and talk about your first drinking experience and what you learned
- What was something that happened in the past (or even recently) that you learned from and are not likely to do again?
- Designate one person to share their story and what they have learned
Definition
Alcohol abuse is a psychiatric diagnosis describing the recurring use of alcoholic beverages without concern of the consequences.
Also referred to as alcoholism.
Proposal
- To fix the problem of teen alcohol abuse, we are suggesting lowering the drinking age to when a child gets out of 8th grade.
- The child's 8th grade diploma will be their license to drink. However, if the child decides they want to drink younger, they will not get into trouble.
- The child must take a mandatory class about all the dangers of alcohol for the license to become legal.
- If the child is to young to understand what drinking can do to you, they can not drink.
Binge Drinking
Binge drinking is typically when a man consumers 5 or more drinks or when a woman consumes 4 or more drinks within 2 hours.
It is the most common form of alcohol abuse in America.
About 90% of the alcohol consumed in people under the age of 21 is in the form of binge drinking.
Other Findings
- 58% said they probably wouldn't have fun at a party without drinking
- 65% said they typically drink hard liquor and 57% said beer
- 60% said they started drink between ages 14-15, 13% said 12-13 and 7% said 11 or under
- 52% said they feel no pressure from their friends and 45% said a little bit
Get LIT but drink responsibly!
