Hello. My name is Maria mo
- 00:04 - 00:08
and I will be discussing python's digital footprint.
- 00:08 - 00:12
I will be going into what python is as a company,
- 00:13 - 00:19
um, as well as what their website looks like visually and design wise,
- 00:19 - 00:22
their social media engagement if they're using them off
- 00:22 - 00:25
and what could be improved and what's done well.
- 00:26 - 00:29
So we're going to go into overview first,
- 00:29 - 00:34
which is python python is a high level programming language.
- 00:34 - 00:38
It is mainly just coding in the tech world.
- 00:38 - 00:41
It's simple and easy to learn for anyone that's looking to
- 00:41 - 00:46
get into a tech career who's already in that tech career.
- 00:46 - 00:48
Python supports modules and packages,
- 00:48 - 00:52
which encourages program modularity and code reuse.
- 00:52 - 00:56
So it's very popular in the tech world. It's something that
- 00:57 - 00:59
is getting learned more and more.
- 00:59 - 01:02
Um, we are going to go on to what their website looks like.
- 01:04 - 01:07
So if you have to click onto their homepage, this is what will pop up.
- 01:07 - 01:13
Um, it's pretty simple, It's full of a lot of information just right off the bat.
- 01:13 - 01:15
You see,
- 01:15 - 01:19
their color usage is just blue and yellow mainly and then
- 01:19 - 01:22
they have those bulleted lists with links embedded into it.
- 01:24 - 01:24
Um,
- 01:24 - 01:28
I find it in a way some somewhat bland just
- 01:28 - 01:33
because there's kind of a lack of visuals besides this,
- 01:33 - 01:37
these boxes, which I don't really understand how that relates.
- 01:38 - 01:46
Um, however, I think that the links are very nice to see. I'm glad there's
- 01:46 - 01:49
different tabs for those that are trying to
- 01:49 - 01:52
navigate the website Well like downloads documentation,
- 01:52 - 01:55
community, success stories, news and events.
- 01:56 - 01:57
That's great.
- 01:57 - 02:03
Um, so for it to click into a link such as like beginner's guide non programmers,
- 02:05 - 02:06
which we're going to do now.
- 02:07 - 02:12
This is what it would look like. It kind of looks like a Wikipedia page in my opinion.
- 02:12 - 02:17
Um I would say it's more for a codeine or tech audience,
- 02:17 - 02:20
it's not really for that general audience just
- 02:20 - 02:22
because when I first clicked into this,
- 02:22 - 02:26
it just immediately made me feel a bit overwhelmed.
- 02:26 - 02:27
Um however,
- 02:27 - 02:32
those that are in the tech community might be able to see this and be completely fine.
- 02:32 - 02:36
Um it's filled with more information, more links um
- 02:36 - 02:41
to that. However, again, it does say python for non programmers.
- 02:41 - 02:44
So I would say that if they were to include visuals and just
- 02:45 - 02:50
an easier breakdown, that this would be way more appealing for that audience.
- 02:51 - 02:55
Um and I would also like to note that their links aren't from their own resources
- 02:56 - 03:03
next if we were to go into contact, which is in a tab community. Um
- 03:04 - 03:08
so the website allows users to find their weekly newsletter.
- 03:08 - 03:13
Um They also have a link in which is great for those that are already in
- 03:13 - 03:18
that coding community and just want to keep up with those that are in using python
- 03:19 - 03:21
As well as they have a discord,
- 03:21 - 03:24
which I thought that was interesting to note because I actually
- 03:24 - 03:30
looked it up and discord is overwhelmingly a male plat platform,
- 03:30 - 03:33
about 65% of their users are meals.
- 03:34 - 03:40
So I thought that was interesting because they lacked social media on this page.
- 03:40 - 03:45
So the majority of people that are going to be learning python,
- 03:45 - 03:49
it is mainly catered towards men, which I thought was interesting.
- 03:51 - 03:54
Um visually this just seems overcrowded, it's hard to read.
- 03:54 - 03:57
There's a lack of social media to follow.
- 03:57 - 04:02
Um so I think that makes it a little bit out of touch for 20,,
- 04:04 - 04:09
so going into social media because I was looking for anything that they
- 04:09 - 04:11
might have and all I could really find it was a twitter.
- 04:13 - 04:15
Um so their twitter is just kind of basic,
- 04:15 - 04:21
it's called python Software Foundation and the majority of their feed
- 04:21 - 04:26
is just congratulating success stories for people that have used python,
- 04:26 - 04:31
which I thought was pretty nice um just to show what is
- 04:31 - 04:36
capable for those that are wanting to get into this coding.
- 04:36 - 04:41
However, I do think that they need more social media for people to understand,
- 04:41 - 04:45
like be more aware of python as a company um
- 04:46 - 04:48
and just to know that
- 04:48 - 04:53
you know, coding and python is available, it's an option to do in your,
- 04:53 - 04:55
in your career.
- 04:56 - 05:00
So going into what needs improvement um social media is
- 05:00 - 05:04
the first thing I found um it needs better and more
- 05:04 - 05:08
social media just to be accessible to the masses to
- 05:08 - 05:14
give people that opportunity and option to know that tech is
- 05:14 - 05:17
an option for them and their careers um
- 05:17 - 05:20
If they were having an engaging social media team,
- 05:20 - 05:23
they could do it on instagram facebook Tiktok Youtube.
- 05:23 - 05:28
Um, and it would be easier to learn and help the tech world grow and easier to learn.
- 05:28 - 05:29
I mean,
- 05:30 - 05:35
they could upload Youtube videos on how to, you know, how to code with python,
- 05:35 - 05:41
same thing with Tiktok facebook instagram, all of it um, with social media,
- 05:41 - 05:46
make people more aware of what python is and how important it is to the tech world.
- 05:46 - 05:50
And I just wanted to note, especially because instagram
- 05:50 - 05:53
and other platforms is coded using python.
- 05:53 - 05:58
So I think that's something to note when associating social media with it
- 05:59 - 06:01
and then going individuals.
- 06:01 - 06:03
That's something that I thought was huge,
- 06:03 - 06:08
pythons website lacks visuals or a nice consistent design.
- 06:09 - 06:12
The website really almost looks like,
- 06:13 - 06:15
looks like it's coated in a way,
- 06:16 - 06:19
like it's definitely for that audience for people that just
- 06:20 - 06:24
code and don't even think about anything looking visually nice.
- 06:24 - 06:24
Um,
- 06:26 - 06:29
if the website and brand were to include visuals,
- 06:29 - 06:31
it would make it more clear what python
- 06:31 - 06:34
coding should look like because I really wasn't,
- 06:34 - 06:37
it wasn't clear to me until I did further research.
- 06:37 - 06:42
So visuals would just assist with making everything make more sense.
- 06:46 - 06:48
Next we're gonna go into what is done well.
- 06:48 - 06:51
So what's done well for the right audience.
- 06:51 - 06:54
So people that are maybe already into coding people
- 06:54 - 06:59
that are comfortable pythons website does have endless resources for
- 06:59 - 07:02
those that have questions or concerns with their coding or
- 07:02 - 07:05
just want to learn more on how to improve.
- 07:05 - 07:05
Um
- 07:06 - 07:10
Their links are to outside resources, which isn't my favorite,
- 07:10 - 07:14
but it is helpful for those that have more time that want to learn,
- 07:14 - 07:19
but it would take again a lot of patience and time to comprehend this
- 07:19 - 07:23
level of tech language for those that have no idea what they're doing.
- 07:23 - 07:26
So that's something to take note of
- 07:26 - 07:30
and then conclusion. Um if we click on there,
- 07:31 - 07:36
so while python has resources to learn their technology for those in the tech field,
- 07:36 - 07:39
the website is visually unappealing and land,
- 07:39 - 07:42
it is hard to digest the overwhelming amount of information
- 07:42 - 07:44
embedded in each link
- 07:44 - 07:46
and there are visuals missing that could massively
- 07:46 - 07:48
improve and explain the use of their coding.
- 07:50 - 07:53
Um Python needs to take advantage of the digital
- 07:53 - 07:55
age and use their voice through social media.
- 07:55 - 07:59
Social media would bring awareness to python's coding platform,
- 07:59 - 08:03
what it is used for and even the opportunity to show how to use it.
- 08:04 - 08:08
Um Python needs their own resources instead of using
- 08:08 - 08:11
outside sources to explain how to use their coding
- 08:12 - 08:13
overall.
- 08:13 - 08:16
I do think that there is a lot of room
- 08:16 - 08:21
for improvement with python's digital footprint at this very moment,
- 08:21 - 08:23
but I think that
- 08:23 - 08:30
they're pretty adequate and they're on their way. So this is just my references.
- 08:30 - 08:32
So yeah,
- 08:32 - 08:35
thank you for listening and I hope that you learned some more
- 08:35 - 08:39
about python and their digital footprints and have a good day.
- 08:39 - 08:39
Thank you.
