Chapter 2

The pilgrims first made a contract with Virginia but due to rough seas and storms and they landed at Plymouth rock

Plymouth later known as Massachusetts became the home of the pilgrims in 1620

But the pilgrim did not have the best of luck when they first arrived

For example when they visited not only was it almost winter but the ground was sandy and too unfertilized

Many of the pilgrims died mostly of starvation but brutal weather helped with kill them off

Many of the pilgrim mothers and wives would often cry themselves to sleep knowing their husbands or children were or already are dead

Many pilgrims had lost hope but William Bradford tried to save them he believed there was a way

One day a tribe of Native Americans showed up and taught them how to grow corn and how to fertilize the soil

This helped the pilgrims greatly in their survival, this also gave them the means to grow economically

With the help of a Native American Squanto and Chief Samosant the settlers vision for their own religious freedom had the ability to be accomplished

Squanto a Native American who knew English showed the pilgrims how to fertilize the sandy ground with the fish they caught

In return for helping they wanted the pilgrims to help kill a nearby tribe, a common enemy to the pilgrims and the Indians

The pilgrims agreed and so they waited until middle of the night they pulled a surprise attack and killed the tribe

We do not know the name of the tribe because the pilgrims and wampanoag Indians killed them all
