I'm Joshua gravelly and I'm a criminal justice major at
- 00:03 - 00:08
Virginia state and I make freshmen and freshman studies.
- 00:08 - 00:12
I feel like freshman states has helped me in ways that no other class has,
- 00:12 - 00:13
like for instance,
- 00:13 - 00:17
is also has helped me with my multitasking my time management skills.
- 00:17 - 00:22
Um And I feel like I have some pictures I'm about to upload when I find how to upload,
- 00:22 - 00:26
I'm gonna put them right over here somewhere over here for you to
- 00:26 - 00:29
select the pictures of my work and how it's changed over time.
- 00:29 - 00:34
And also like I wish I could show like the time frames and when I used to do like
- 00:34 - 00:38
I used to start off my work and then how like I do it now because for instance,
- 00:38 - 00:44
before freshman studies, I believe I would just do assignments probably
- 00:45 - 00:51
maybe like a day, like a day right before they do um like late nights as well,
- 00:51 - 00:53
but going on professional studies,
- 00:53 - 00:57
like like actually going professional studies and actually taking the course,
- 00:57 - 01:01
I can see like improvement that I've actually been taking a couple of days,
- 01:01 - 01:04
maybe even weeks before like an assignment was due.
- 01:04 - 01:07
And I've been doing them like before like nightfall,
- 01:07 - 01:10
I'll do them before the sun like sets or anything like that.
- 01:10 - 01:14
And it's just I've also been saying like I've been getting a lot like higher scores
- 01:14 - 01:18
on my grades and my test when I take more time and I actually like,
- 01:18 - 01:18
you know,
- 01:18 - 01:21
I take the time to manage whatever class because usually it's
- 01:21 - 01:25
just a lot of work because I have six classes.
- 01:25 - 01:28
So it's just really a lot of work and I have four classes on one day.
- 01:28 - 01:30
So it's all just a lot of classes at once and
- 01:30 - 01:33
it's just kind of jumbled my brand and I took like,
- 01:33 - 01:36
I got a lot of other tips by actually writing them down,
- 01:37 - 01:41
um writing down like when or do when to do them and stuff like that.
- 01:41 - 01:45
Um but basically with freshman studies, I feel like it's,
- 01:45 - 01:49
it's not all been freshman studies because there has also
- 01:49 - 01:53
been a time where I believe that I've always been diligent
- 01:53 - 01:55
and like, you know, I've actually been a good test taker.
- 01:55 - 02:00
I've been a good time management management person with my work.
- 02:00 - 02:03
I think it all just ended and started because of covid
- 02:03 - 02:07
like when it hit because eighth grade um I think that's when
- 02:07 - 02:12
I first started actually being serious with my work and understanding how
- 02:12 - 02:14
school works and how I want to be successful in life.
- 02:15 - 02:19
That was when I found out because I remember the first quarter,
- 02:19 - 02:22
it was about like a month or two, it's like a grading quarter.
- 02:22 - 02:26
So my mom said, if I get all these abuse on that quarter, then I can get my ears pierced,
- 02:26 - 02:28
I can get my ears pierced
- 02:28 - 02:31
and I got all the zombies and then I realized that
- 02:31 - 02:34
I could actually accomplish something like that because I don't,
- 02:34 - 02:35
I don't think I ever really got all the
- 02:35 - 02:37
zombies before and that was just the first time,
- 02:37 - 02:40
it was just that excitement and that that that that rush I
- 02:40 - 02:42
felt and I just realized I don't have to stop there.
- 02:42 - 02:45
So then throughout the rest of the year I got all the zombies.
- 02:45 - 02:49
My dad was a little rocky year for me, that was a little because I was, you know,
- 02:49 - 02:52
it was like a stepping stone, I was just getting used to a whole other thing.
- 02:52 - 02:55
I just got all the zombies. So that's why I kind of tipped over
- 02:55 - 02:58
and I like I bounced back and that was the most
- 02:58 - 03:02
diligent I've ever been because I was on top of work.
- 03:02 - 03:04
I was doing everything I needed to do, No help,
- 03:04 - 03:06
nobody had to tell me anything and all the zombies again
- 03:07 - 03:07
even.
- 03:07 - 03:12
Um and then the, when we had like online it's got a little bit more hard,
- 03:12 - 03:13
a little bit hard,
- 03:13 - 03:16
but I still find a way to get all the zombies one
- 03:16 - 03:19
c so not all these abuse and that's in the year,
- 03:19 - 03:21
I was good, I was fine.
- 03:21 - 03:25
But I just feel like freshman studies now has structured all that together.
- 03:25 - 03:26
I just put all that together,
- 03:26 - 03:30
Just put all the like my strengths throughout those years onto one and
- 03:30 - 03:33
it just makes you realize how much of a better student I am
- 03:33 - 03:38
and how much easier everything is is and I think special studies
- 03:38 - 03:41
has actually helped me and I believe I can actually put a
- 03:41 - 03:45
lot of this into like future work like throughout my whole life
- 03:45 - 03:48
because time management is a big problem in life and I,
- 03:48 - 03:49
and
- 03:49 - 03:53
I feel like that also does play a part in your how you manage
- 03:53 - 03:57
your money because money management is also a very serious thing I believe,
- 03:57 - 04:02
and I take that very seriously and I think by learning how to do
- 04:02 - 04:05
um time management, learning how to um you know,
- 04:05 - 04:10
write stuff down like and I won't forget stuff like that like that can also, you know,
- 04:10 - 04:15
you know, put into like my actual money and management and credit.
- 04:15 - 04:18
So I believe freshman studies has helped me with a lot.
