  • 00:02 - 00:05

Hello, this is Zach Lion and this is my project.

  • 00:05 - 00:07

It is called corporate America stand up.

  • 00:07 - 00:13

I will be talking about the sit stand workstation and how it is growing in America

  • 00:13 - 00:16

and how I believe that all corporate America

  • 00:16 - 00:19

employees should have them in their office.

  • 00:22 - 00:26

So this is the typical life of an employee in corporate America.

  • 00:26 - 00:32

Their daily agenda from monday to friday from 8:30 a.m. To five p.m.

  • 00:32 - 00:37

You'll have them sit in a desk from 8 30 until noon and

  • 00:37 - 00:41

then about a 30 minute lunch break followed by um going back to

  • 00:41 - 00:45

their desk and sitting from about 12 30 until at least five.

  • 00:45 - 00:50

And that's about seven plus hours of sedentary

  • 00:50 - 00:52

time during our most active part of the day

  • 00:58 - 00:58

    Too.

  • 00:58 - 01:03

Sedentary seven or more hours of sitting during the day during the

  • 01:03 - 01:06

middle of our day where we have most of our energy.

  • 01:06 - 01:11

That's physical energy, that's mental energy, that is all kinds of energy.

  • 01:11 - 01:13

    It's bad for our health.

  • 01:13 - 01:19

Um An article I read from Gregory Garrett suggests that sedentary

  • 01:19 - 01:24

behavior is typically linked to major health diseases like diabetes,

  • 01:24 - 01:26

strokes heart diseases and many more.

  • 01:29 - 01:33

So I have a solution to this and it's called the sits down the workstation.

  • 01:34 - 01:35

    Here's how it works.

  • 01:35 - 01:39

Employees will have a desk that raises by either the push of a

  • 01:39 - 01:42

button or by turning a crank as you can see in this picture.

  • 01:42 - 01:43

    I have,

  • 01:43 - 01:48

they can choose whenever they want to sit and do their work at their computer or they

  • 01:48 - 01:53

can choose to stand or whatever mix of the two that they would want to do.

  • 01:53 - 01:57

Um So they can choose when they wanna move their chair,

  • 01:57 - 02:01

raise the desk and stand up while also working

  • 02:04 - 02:04

    Now.

  • 02:04 - 02:09

Why this works is because it gives more employees the freedom and

  • 02:09 - 02:14

how they work more effectively and it's gonna increase their productivity.

  • 02:14 - 02:19

It's also gonna reduce sedentary time which like I said is bad for our health.

  • 02:22 - 02:26

Here's a picture of what the sit stand workstation looks like.

  • 02:26 - 02:30

Um There are many different types of sit stand workstations and this is

  • 02:30 - 02:34

a pretty basic one that you actually put on top of the desk.

  • 02:34 - 02:38

Um It can lay flat on top of the desk or like in this

  • 02:38 - 02:42

picture it's raised and I believe it can raise even higher than this.

  • 02:42 - 02:47

So you can also just put it flat and it's just like a normal desk.

  • 02:52 - 02:56

Next up I have is a Youtube video that I tried to

  • 02:56 - 03:00

get into this present so that I can watch it during it.

  • 03:00 - 03:05

But I cannot so I will post that link at the end so that you can watch it.

  • 03:05 - 03:10

I have the time slots listed of when um the

  • 03:10 - 03:12

video is relevant to what I am talking about.

  • 03:14 - 03:16

In conclusion, this is kind of my thesis.

  • 03:16 - 03:21

Corporate America now is the time to invest in your employees

  • 03:21 - 03:26

and their health and their productivity in their work every day.

  • 03:26 - 03:28

Let's make the corporate workplace and

  • 03:28 - 03:30

environment where all employees have the choice

  • 03:30 - 03:34

to sit or stand whenever they want while they're completing their work.

  • 03:37 - 03:40

And here are my sources. Thank you very much for listening.
