Hi, guys.
- 00:01 - 00:03
So I just wanted to tell you a little bit
- 00:04 - 00:04
about me.
- 00:04 - 00:08
So over to the right is my boyfriend.
- 00:09 - 00:14
Over three years, and we met, um, my sophomore year
- 00:14 - 00:17
of high school and his junior year, and we've been
- 00:17 - 00:18
together ever since.
- 00:19 - 00:20
So what?
- 00:21 - 00:23
Um, I am from Shawnee, Kansas.
- 00:24 - 00:27
I have three siblings all older than me.
- 00:27 - 00:29
My oldest brother is 30.
- 00:29 - 00:33
My second oldest brother is 22 my sister is 21
- 00:35 - 00:39
my sister is my rock and my best friend and
- 00:40 - 00:42
someone to go to win.
- 00:42 - 00:45
I'm feeling sad or just need someone to talk to
- 00:45 - 00:50
you. Um, I graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest in 2020
- 00:51 - 00:57
and I have three talks to shit zoos and poodle
- 00:57 - 01:00
Snow Asher and my poodle Snow jher.
- 01:00 - 01:01
His name is Max.
- 01:02 - 01:05
He's 14 years old, and I got him when he
- 01:05 - 01:07
was eight when I was eight.
- 01:07 - 01:12
And he is my baby and my everything.
- 01:13 - 01:18
And, um, here in Emporia, I work across winds and
- 01:18 - 01:22
and after school care program with kids with mental health.
- 01:23 - 01:25
And in Shawnee, Kansas.
- 01:25 - 01:27
I work a quick trip and I take a leave
- 01:27 - 01:29
of absence when I'm down here.
- 01:30 - 01:34
And, um, I've worked at a quick trip for 2.5
- 01:35 - 01:35
years now.
- 01:35 - 01:39
And crossbones, I'm near and up on my six months.
- 01:39 - 01:40
So yes.
- 01:41 - 01:48
Um, So my what got me interested in pursuing elementary
- 01:48 - 01:50
education? I wanted Thio.
- 01:51 - 01:54
I was inspired by a bunch of teachers, and I
- 01:54 - 01:59
wanted to make a difference in, um, other kids lives
- 02:00 - 02:01
just like they made a difference in mind.
- 02:02 - 02:06
And I had some pretty bad teachers that just weren't
- 02:06 - 02:10
very inspirational and made me hate school and hate going
- 02:10 - 02:11
to their class.
- 02:11 - 02:17
And, um, I kind of went all over the place
- 02:17 - 02:18
with my degree.
- 02:19 - 02:21
So my junior year of high school, when I was
- 02:22 - 02:26
college visiting, I wanted to study Spanish, and I really
- 02:27 - 02:27
liked Spanish.
- 02:28 - 02:31
And so I went thio Emporia state and I visited.
- 02:32 - 02:35
And I decided that hey, I could teach Spanish because
- 02:35 - 02:36
I don't really know what to do about it.
- 02:37 - 02:40
And I was like, Yeah, teaching Sounds like my thing.
- 02:40 - 02:45
And so then I started into Spanish five.
- 02:45 - 02:49
And I said that I didn't like Spanish and so
- 02:49 - 02:54
I moved on to secondary ed, maybe like English.
- 02:55 - 02:56
I wasn't sure yet.
- 02:57 - 03:00
And so Then I got offered a job by my
- 03:00 - 03:04
elementary school to work in the first grade classroom with
- 03:05 - 03:08
a kid who was struggling, who kind of breed or
- 03:08 - 03:12
right, And he struggled in class and needed extra break.
- 03:12 - 03:15
So they needed an extra pere Thio help.
- 03:16 - 03:20
And so I worked with him, and I absolutely loved
- 03:20 - 03:24
him and the class and I just loved the teacher.
- 03:25 - 03:28
She taught me so much, and I realized that I
- 03:28 - 03:30
wanted to be an elementary ed teacher.
- 03:31 - 03:35
So ever since that's been my major, I'm going to
- 03:35 - 03:37
be minor ring and psych as well.
- 03:38 - 03:41
Um, just because I think mental health is really important
- 03:41 - 03:45
and psychology could be really helpful in the classroom, understanding
- 03:46 - 03:48
kids in a bigger level.
- 03:49 - 03:52
Um, and the thing that I'm looking forward to the
- 03:52 - 03:57
most as an elementary teacher is just helping kids who
- 03:57 - 04:01
are really struggling and three kids who are really smart,
- 04:02 - 04:05
helping them be just smarter and better.
- 04:06 - 04:09
And I just want to be the inspirational teachers that
- 04:10 - 04:14
I had throughout my life and just create a healthy
- 04:15 - 04:15
learning environment.
- 04:17 - 04:20
Um, and I'm also looking forward to school supply shopping,
- 04:21 - 04:27
and I'm looking forward Thio, Um having that light bulb
- 04:28 - 04:31
moment in my class where kid understand something.
- 04:31 - 04:34
And I realized that Hey, I leave.
- 04:34 - 04:34
That happened.
- 04:35 - 04:36
And so Yeah.
- 04:38 - 04:38
Okay, fine.
