welcome to the Tech technical award Digital Liked.
- 00:06 - 00:09
Firstly, let's look at who this course is aimed at.
- 00:10 - 00:12
This course is aimed at students who have an interest
- 00:12 - 00:15
in it and want to develop their skills that will
- 00:15 - 00:15
help in the future.
- 00:16 - 00:19
It's for students who want to be challenged and think
- 00:19 - 00:21
through problems and how to solve those problems.
- 00:22 - 00:25
It's for students who are well motivated and want to
- 00:25 - 00:27
learn how to manage their time and work more effectively.
- 00:31 - 00:32
What does the course cover?
- 00:34 - 00:37
There are four main areas that this course covers over
- 00:37 - 00:37
the two years.
- 00:39 - 00:43
Firstly, we look at developing key skills such as project
- 00:43 - 00:48
planning, designing and creating user interfaces, creating dashboards to present
- 00:48 - 00:50
data and interpreting it.
- 00:53 - 00:59
The second looks at the processes that underpin effective ways
- 00:59 - 01:03
of working in digital information technology, such as project planning,
- 01:04 - 01:09
the interested design process, cybersecurity, virtual teams and legal and
- 01:09 - 01:10
ethical codes of conduct.
- 01:13 - 01:17
Thirdly, right we look at the attitudes are considered most
- 01:17 - 01:22
important in digital information technology, including personal management and communication
- 01:22 - 01:27
skills, and finally we look at the knowledge that underpins
- 01:28 - 01:31
the effective use of skills, processes and attitudes in the
- 01:31 - 01:33
sector, such as how different user interfaces.
- 01:34 - 01:38
Meet user needs, how organizations collect and use data to
- 01:38 - 01:43
make decisions, virtual workspaces, cyber security and legal and ethical
- 01:44 - 01:52
issues surrounding the world of So what's the course about?
- 01:53 - 01:55
There are three units or components that you will study
- 01:56 - 01:57
over the two years.
- 01:58 - 01:58
The first component.
- 01:59 - 02:00
It surrounds user interfaces.
- 02:02 - 02:06
We investigate user interfaces, the design for individuals and organizations.
- 02:08 - 02:11
We use project planning techniques to plan and design a
- 02:11 - 02:13
user interface set by the exam board.
- 02:14 - 02:17
And then we use software to develop that user interface
- 02:17 - 02:20
reviewing it, improving it, making the best we can.
- 02:23 - 02:30
The second component revolves around data spreadsheets investigating the role
- 02:31 - 02:33
and the impact and use of data on individuals.
- 02:34 - 02:39
Creating a dashboard, using data manipulation tools and drawing conclusions
- 02:40 - 02:41
and reviewing data presentation methods.
- 02:44 - 02:45
Both units one and two.
- 02:47 - 02:51
Our coursework based three assignments for each set by the
- 02:51 - 02:51
exam board.
- 02:52 - 02:57
The third component is examined, and this looks at modern
- 02:57 - 03:02
technologies and their impact on organizations, threats to digital systems
- 03:03 - 03:06
and how they can be managed, responsible legal and ethical
- 03:07 - 03:10
use of data and planning a communication in digital systems.
- 03:12 - 03:15
The exam can be taken twice once in the January
- 03:16 - 03:16
year 11.
- 03:17 - 03:19
And if you don't quite manage to get the grade,
- 03:19 - 03:20
you're happy with Mace.
- 03:20 - 03:22
Reset it in the June of year 11.
- 03:26 - 03:27
What can it lead to?
- 03:28 - 03:30
Well, obviously, there's the standard routes.
- 03:30 - 03:33
Having completed the course, you could not do an A
- 03:33 - 03:37
level, in fact, or a B tech level three, in
- 03:37 - 03:43
fact. But there are also other options apprenticeships in a
- 03:43 - 03:48
number of different areas which will use its skills and
- 03:48 - 03:50
then obviously, employment itself.
- 03:50 - 03:54
It permeates through so many different jobs now that it
- 03:55 - 03:56
is a useful skill to have.
- 04:00 - 04:00
So thank you for listening.
- 04:01 - 04:03
