Hi my name is Chinedu DK
- 00:05 - 00:08
and for this project I chose to be a music producer
- 00:09 - 00:10
and how how that came to be.
- 00:10 - 00:15
Was that um you know I did some research and I saw a couple of jobs that
- 00:15 - 00:19
I liked in this industry but music music
- 00:19 - 00:21
producer really stood out the most because you know
- 00:21 - 00:26
I love music so in this generation music the producers are really famous.
- 00:26 - 00:30
So I get to usually see on social media how they,
- 00:30 - 00:34
how those songs came to be what they did in the background,
- 00:34 - 00:36
how they produced to be and all that.
- 00:36 - 00:37
So I always find that interesting interesting.
- 00:37 - 00:40
So I feel like this career I have like a
- 00:41 - 00:43
likeness towards it. So it would be pretty
- 00:43 - 00:52
um something that I'd like to go after. So yeah, I chose to be a music producer and um
- 00:52 - 00:58
yeah usually music cruisers their job is to bring the vision of the artist to life and
- 00:59 - 01:01
uh produce their crafts
- 01:02 - 01:02
and
- 01:02 - 01:04
they play a really big part and
- 01:04 - 01:10
the RBC today in the music industry. So yeah I like
- 01:10 - 01:13
not necessarily doing the dirty work but I like really
- 01:14 - 01:14
being able to
- 01:15 - 01:19
take something from nothing and make it into something. So yeah
- 01:20 - 01:25
um a lot of the responsibilities, you know um
- 01:25 - 01:27
not responsibilities of the qualifications.
- 01:27 - 01:32
Yeah, you need to have some type of musical production experience and I have none.
- 01:32 - 01:34
So I would have to start small and
- 01:35 - 01:38
uh go behind the scenes of smaller productions
- 01:38 - 01:41
and be able to build up my credibility.
- 01:41 - 01:43
I need to have some type of editing,
- 01:43 - 01:46
you know software kind of experience and I have none of that, so you know,
- 01:46 - 01:49
I have to take certain classes for that and get good at it,
- 01:49 - 01:51
so I'm able to do what needs to be done
- 01:52 - 01:55
and um one other one would be
- 01:56 - 01:56
leadership
- 01:57 - 02:00
and you know, I played sports all my life, so I have
- 02:01 - 02:02
oh good
- 02:03 - 02:06
my experience in terms of leading, because you have to lead my team to victory,
- 02:06 - 02:11
you know, we have to have good communication skills as a producer and as an athlete,
- 02:11 - 02:12
so
- 02:12 - 02:16
um a lot of that correlates and I'm able to just use what I used
- 02:17 - 02:17
when I was younger
- 02:18 - 02:19
into this field works, so
- 02:20 - 02:21
yeah,
- 02:22 - 02:24
when you're producing is not just a one man kind of job, you know,
- 02:24 - 02:25
you have a whole team, so
- 02:26 - 02:28
you need to be able to work together and
- 02:28 - 02:29
collaborate.
- 02:31 - 02:32
Um
- 02:33 - 02:37
the interviews that I had were pretty interesting because I'll say one of them,
- 02:37 - 02:40
one of them was with an actual music producer and X One,
- 02:40 - 02:42
it was my teacher in middle school and she just gave me the
- 02:42 - 02:45
rundown of what she had to go through what she had to do to
- 02:45 - 02:52
be successful and uh some stories that I can I can surely learn from,
- 02:52 - 02:54
and um yeah,
- 02:54 - 02:56
it was really interesting and it really helped me
- 02:56 - 02:59
get like a taste of what I'm going to be
- 02:59 - 03:00
going after
- 03:00 - 03:03
and yeah, she just told me some motivation,
- 03:04 - 03:05
motivational words,
- 03:06 - 03:11
I'm not motivational words uh advice and and she gave me some type of motivation,
- 03:11 - 03:14
so I'm really looking forward to this career.
- 03:15 - 03:16
Um
- 03:17 - 03:21
music produced this industry, you know, it's a it's a it's a tough one, you know,
- 03:21 - 03:23
not everyone gets to be what they want to be, you know,
- 03:23 - 03:27
you see a lot of like producers on social media, like, oh,
- 03:27 - 03:29
they're trying to promote their music and this and that,
- 03:29 - 03:33
and it doesn't get the recognition that it may deserve and um yeah, so it's a risk,
- 03:33 - 03:35
but I'm going to take that risk and
- 03:36 - 03:38
and put my best foot forward
- 03:38 - 03:41
um the surveys recorded answer, because, you know,
- 03:41 - 03:44
it gave me like an insight of what others thought of me and
- 03:44 - 03:47
what I thought of myself and see if that kind of matched.
- 03:47 - 03:49
So, um yeah, that was cool.
- 03:50 - 03:54
Uh promoting might be one of the hardest things to do in this industry because,
- 03:54 - 03:58
you know, you're promoting, it's so common nowadays that, you know,
- 03:58 - 04:01
you see you get annoyed and you just walk away or you ignore them, so
- 04:01 - 04:06
you have to bring some type of charisma and and something new to the table so that you
- 04:06 - 04:12
pull the listeners in and then you make them want to listen to what you have to offer.
- 04:12 - 04:15
So that might be one of the hardest parts uh you know,
- 04:15 - 04:16
you have to work with the team and all that,
- 04:17 - 04:19
so I'm used to that um
- 04:21 - 04:22
yeah,
- 04:25 - 04:30
producing music, it's it's it'll be fun because I already have a passion to, like,
- 04:30 - 04:34
I love listen, I literally live, listen to music every day all day.
- 04:34 - 04:38
So this is something, you know, if you want to really make the best of your career,
- 04:38 - 04:39
you have to
- 04:39 - 04:40
do something
- 04:40 - 04:42
that you already love and then,
- 04:42 - 04:46
you know, you work for it and you make money off of that. So
- 04:46 - 04:48
I feel like I really found the right career for me
- 04:49 - 04:53
and yeah, the research was, I did a lot of research
- 04:54 - 05:00
on different magazines to read into different websites, um different stories,
- 05:01 - 05:02
famous producers
- 05:02 - 05:05
and saw their stories. So I feel like that really helped me
- 05:06 - 05:10
and it's going to be able to mold me in terms of putting a game plan and want to do
- 05:10 - 05:13
to start off my career and what and what not to do.
- 05:14 - 05:16
Um I'm gonna have to break off a lot of um
- 05:17 - 05:18
bad habits and
- 05:18 - 05:20
acquired some new skills,
- 05:20 - 05:24
obviously it's gonna be a challenge, but I'm up for it. So
- 05:24 - 05:25
yeah, it's been fun
- 05:25 - 05:28
doing this research and this project
- 05:28 - 05:32
and uh yeah, so, you know, he might see me like a,
- 05:32 - 05:34
like a little music producer or whatever.
- 05:34 - 05:34
So
- 05:34 - 05:37
uh yeah, if you see me doing that, that means this project where
- 05:38 - 05:39
so yeah,
- 05:39 - 05:41
this project was pretty fun and it gave me an
- 05:41 - 05:43
insight to what I may be doing in the future.
- 05:43 - 05:44
So thank you
