Hi, I am
- 00:03 - 00:07
Hallie charlotte and this has been my journey through
- 00:08 - 00:09
the tailor life class,
- 00:11 - 00:14
so in the beginning of the semester,
- 00:14 - 00:18
I knew that I wanted to go to nursing school,
- 00:18 - 00:18
but
- 00:19 - 00:21
I really wasn't sure where
- 00:22 - 00:25
my specific interests
- 00:25 - 00:27
was, what area I wanted to
- 00:28 - 00:30
go into,
- 00:30 - 00:32
I just wasn't really sure and
- 00:33 - 00:33
this,
- 00:34 - 00:36
it was just like a whole
- 00:36 - 00:38
kind of like mess, I didn't know
- 00:38 - 00:41
what my plan was going to be, where I,
- 00:42 - 00:45
I was going to be in a year from then, like,
- 00:45 - 00:50
I wasn't sure if I was going to take time off before going back to school or
- 00:51 - 00:53
where I would go to school, where I would live,
- 00:54 - 00:56
there were just so many questions
- 00:56 - 00:58
and throughout this course, just
- 01:00 - 01:01
from
- 01:01 - 01:03
a lot of the things that I've learned in this class
- 01:03 - 01:08
and things I've discovered about myself inside and outside of class,
- 01:08 - 01:09
I
- 01:09 - 01:10
have
- 01:11 - 01:15
a much more distinct path and I've been able
- 01:15 - 01:18
to identify a bunch of my different interests.
- 01:18 - 01:19
So
- 01:21 - 01:22
I am
- 01:23 - 01:26
super interested in exploring women's health,
- 01:26 - 01:27
I
- 01:27 - 01:31
think that it is so important to have
- 01:32 - 01:33
people
- 01:33 - 01:35
there for women
- 01:36 - 01:36
ah
- 01:37 - 01:40
like these huge, monumental moments in their life.
- 01:41 - 01:42
I,
- 01:44 - 01:49
I am interested in working in obstetrics in labor and delivery.
- 01:50 - 01:51
Um
- 01:51 - 01:56
I'm interested in working with people throughout their pregnancy or postpartum
- 01:56 - 01:59
and I just think that this is such
- 01:59 - 02:01
an important area
- 02:01 - 02:04
to have for women to have a support system,
- 02:04 - 02:11
whether that be for the best day of their lives or the worst day of their lives, it's
- 02:12 - 02:14
really, it varies and
- 02:15 - 02:20
just having support and people who can be there for you and help help you,
- 02:20 - 02:21
I think is
- 02:22 - 02:24
so important and
- 02:24 - 02:27
I really think that I would love to work
- 02:28 - 02:29
in a role
- 02:29 - 02:30
that
- 02:31 - 02:34
I was able to help people in this way.
- 02:35 - 02:36
And
- 02:36 - 02:39
yeah, I'm really happy that I
- 02:39 - 02:42
was able to discover this about myself in this course
- 02:42 - 02:45
because now going into nursing school,
- 02:46 - 02:47
hopefully soon
- 02:48 - 02:54
I kind of have an idea of what my interests are and I'm not so
- 02:55 - 02:57
scatterbrained about
- 02:58 - 02:59
what I wanted to do.
- 03:00 - 03:05
So throughout this course, what helped me realize, oh,
- 03:05 - 03:09
I'm not sure why that picture is blocking, but
- 03:10 - 03:13
what helped me realize some of my interests
- 03:13 - 03:17
and my curiosities were the life design sketches.
- 03:17 - 03:18
I
- 03:19 - 03:19
I
- 03:19 - 03:20
really
- 03:20 - 03:23
loved doing the life design sketches. I
- 03:24 - 03:25
it's really enjoyed
- 03:26 - 03:30
kind of having this ideal idea of where I
- 03:30 - 03:32
was going to go and this
- 03:32 - 03:34
wild idea that I
- 03:35 - 03:38
kind of had a feeling I would never do, and
- 03:39 - 03:41
but it was still something that I was interested in.
- 03:41 - 03:45
The constraint free was fun and
- 03:46 - 03:47
I
- 03:47 - 03:49
realized once I had done them all that they were,
- 03:50 - 03:55
they all had kind of the same theme of like, health, wellness,
- 03:55 - 04:00
women's health and just like supporting women.
- 04:00 - 04:02
And I,
- 04:03 - 04:07
I think that that was like so unique that
- 04:08 - 04:09
I really wasn't
- 04:10 - 04:14
trying to tie them together, but they still had a common theme
- 04:14 - 04:18
and our discussion on our head and our heart.
- 04:19 - 04:21
It was just something that
- 04:21 - 04:23
I looked back on and
- 04:23 - 04:25
in the beginning of the semester
- 04:25 - 04:27
I had written that
- 04:27 - 04:29
I thought my head in my heart,
- 04:29 - 04:32
I have recently become a lot more alike
- 04:32 - 04:34
and even now I feel
- 04:35 - 04:37
that even more I
- 04:38 - 04:39
went from
- 04:40 - 04:42
solely focusing on
- 04:42 - 04:42
my,
- 04:42 - 04:46
my major as a communications major too,
- 04:46 - 04:48
taking all of the pre recs
- 04:48 - 04:52
prerequisite classes for nursing school and
- 04:54 - 04:57
it was such a change, but I'm really, really glad I did it and
- 04:59 - 05:02
I've been really able to focus on
- 05:03 - 05:05
what I want to do and what I'm interested in.
- 05:07 - 05:09
So a few of my curiosities
- 05:10 - 05:11
that stemmed
- 05:11 - 05:13
from our work this semester,
- 05:14 - 05:15
word
- 05:16 - 05:17
from like,
- 05:18 - 05:21
like prototyping certain things and just exploring
- 05:22 - 05:26
like what I'm curious about and I realized that
- 05:26 - 05:30
I would love to become a certified yoga teacher.
- 05:30 - 05:31
I
- 05:32 - 05:33
I would love to
- 05:34 - 05:35
look into
- 05:35 - 05:36
holistic health,
- 05:37 - 05:39
Integrative medicine,
- 05:39 - 05:41
natural medicine and just
- 05:43 - 05:43
the
- 05:44 - 05:47
mind body and soul connection. I think that
- 05:48 - 05:48
is
- 05:49 - 05:51
something that's really important and I don't,
- 05:52 - 05:55
I know enough about it yet, but I'm very, very interested in that
- 05:56 - 05:58
as well as like I said, women's health
- 05:58 - 05:59
working
- 06:00 - 06:03
with women postpartum during their pregnancy.
- 06:03 - 06:05
Um and just kind of
- 06:06 - 06:11
being able to help and support in any way that I can. Um
- 06:12 - 06:13
and
- 06:14 - 06:17
yeah, I'm just all of these things I'm really curious about,
- 06:17 - 06:20
I'm really interested about, I love learning about
- 06:21 - 06:24
how foods can fuel your body. It's just all
- 06:27 - 06:31
kind of connected in the realm of health and wellness and
- 06:32 - 06:36
um I'm really happy that I was able to discover and
- 06:36 - 06:39
uncover these things that I already knew I was interested in,
- 06:39 - 06:39
but
- 06:40 - 06:41
I didn't
- 06:41 - 06:44
really pay attention to. So this was really
- 06:45 - 06:45
mhm.
- 06:46 - 06:48
A rewarding experience,
- 06:50 - 06:53
our design thinking
- 06:54 - 06:55
in this class.
- 06:56 - 06:57
Um
- 06:57 - 06:58
were these six mindsets?
- 06:59 - 07:02
They were to accept, empathize, define I. D. A
- 07:03 - 07:05
prototype and test and
- 07:05 - 07:06
I
- 07:07 - 07:08
I feel like
- 07:08 - 07:13
we've used all of these throughout this class. This class was
- 07:15 - 07:16
so intimate in
- 07:17 - 07:20
both the way that it was a small class
- 07:20 - 07:21
and also intimate in the way that
- 07:22 - 07:24
I really got to know myself. I
- 07:26 - 07:31
really learned so much about myself and what I want to do and
- 07:33 - 07:34
Um one of the things that
- 07:36 - 07:37
um
- 07:38 - 07:40
stood out to me was the work
- 07:40 - 07:42
view and worldview
- 07:43 - 07:44
activity that we did
- 07:45 - 07:47
in the beginning of the course.
- 07:47 - 07:51
Um I felt like I was able to utilize
- 07:51 - 07:55
all of the mindsets in so many different activities.
- 07:55 - 07:58
Um but this one in particular,
- 07:58 - 08:05
I felt like looking into myself and how I view the world and how I view
- 08:07 - 08:09
work and
- 08:09 - 08:10
just
- 08:11 - 08:16
how I view life. It was really interesting and I was able to
- 08:17 - 08:19
dive into
- 08:19 - 08:21
who I am and accept
- 08:22 - 08:24
things about myself. I was able to
- 08:25 - 08:26
empathize
- 08:26 - 08:29
throughout this whole course with other people
- 08:29 - 08:30
with myself,
- 08:31 - 08:34
I was able to define what my interests were
- 08:34 - 08:35
and
- 08:35 - 08:38
lay out concrete steps.
- 08:38 - 08:41
I was creating ideas prototyping, testing and
- 08:42 - 08:45
it was really rewarding and it was really
- 08:45 - 08:47
fun and interesting
- 08:47 - 08:48
when
- 08:49 - 08:50
we
- 08:50 - 08:52
were prototyping, I,
- 08:53 - 08:57
I learned so much about so many different paths that I'm interested in and
- 08:59 - 09:01
it was just so interesting to see how they're all connected.
- 09:01 - 09:06
I spoke with Remy who is in a similar position as I am.
- 09:06 - 09:09
She worked as a medical assistant
- 09:10 - 09:11
this past year and it's going to
- 09:12 - 09:13
be a school.
- 09:14 - 09:16
More organ is
- 09:16 - 09:19
an instagram influencer. She
- 09:20 - 09:21
is
- 09:21 - 09:27
all focused on like holistic health, functional nutrition and jenny
- 09:28 - 09:32
was an O. B G Y N. And she,
- 09:33 - 09:36
she switched into
- 09:37 - 09:38
um
- 09:39 - 09:41
the field of therapy. She's a licensed therapist
- 09:42 - 09:47
with a focus on women and women's health, postpartum pregnancy
- 09:48 - 09:48
and
- 09:49 - 09:49
just
- 09:50 - 09:52
all of these
- 09:52 - 09:53
people
- 09:54 - 09:57
I related to you and I felt like I understood them and I
- 09:58 - 10:04
it made me excited for what I feel like I can
- 10:05 - 10:09
bring to the table going into nursing. Um
- 10:10 - 10:13
and I'm really looking forward to being able to
- 10:14 - 10:18
kind of combine all of my interests and explore
- 10:18 - 10:20
all of these different paths
- 10:25 - 10:27
and where I am now. So
- 10:28 - 10:31
this semester I've spent the most time prototyping
- 10:31 - 10:34
and testing the various paths that I'm interested in
- 10:35 - 10:36
looking forward.
- 10:36 - 10:39
I think I'm most interested in pursuing women's health,
- 10:39 - 10:44
although I am curious about functional nutrition and integrative medicine.
- 10:45 - 10:47
My biggest question when thinking about my
- 10:47 - 10:50
biggest questions, when thinking about my future are
- 10:51 - 10:55
where we're gonna go to nursing school and how can I combine all of my interests
- 10:56 - 10:57
to it. Oops,
- 10:57 - 10:58
to address
- 10:59 - 11:00
these questions.
- 11:00 - 11:04
My future prototypes include exploring women's
- 11:04 - 11:06
health in tandem with integrative Medicine.
- 11:07 - 11:10
I'm currently focused on trying to get into nursing school
- 11:11 - 11:14
when developing and emerging change, making
- 11:15 - 11:17
emerging change,
- 11:17 - 11:20
making professional outwait when developing as
- 11:20 - 11:22
an emerging change making professional.
- 11:22 - 11:25
I am most excited about helping others and
- 11:25 - 11:27
hopefully making a real impact on women's lives.
- 11:27 - 11:32
My biggest takeaway as a life designer is that it's so important to explore,
- 11:32 - 11:34
get out of your comfort zone and try new things.
- 11:35 - 11:39
You never know what you might find out about yourself and your passions,
- 11:41 - 11:44
and that is my journey
- 11:44 - 11:45
entail your life.
- 11:46 - 11:52
I had a really amazing time getting to know my classmates, my teachers, and myself,
- 11:52 - 11:55
and I'm really grateful for this experience.
- 11:55 - 11:56
Thank you.
