Hi, My name is Molly Visco and welcome my E portfolio.
- 00:03 - 00:06
I'm a junior at the University of Maryland, majoring in agriculture,
- 00:06 - 00:08
business and mining and innovation and entrepreneurship.
- 00:08 - 00:11
I'm also currently serving as president of my sorority.
- 00:11 - 00:14
This has forced me to be involved in Greek life community on
- 00:14 - 00:16
campus and to have an opportunity to make change within it.
- 00:16 - 00:19
Having this leadership opportunity has also given me a lot of
- 00:19 - 00:21
confidence in myself as a leader and as a businesswoman.
- 00:22 - 00:23
Growing up, I was always a natural leader,
- 00:23 - 00:25
whether it was serving as my captain for my lacrosse
- 00:25 - 00:27
and water polo high school teams or I was,
- 00:27 - 00:30
I was taking charge in group projects in the classroom.
- 00:30 - 00:31
I've always known I was going to be a
- 00:31 - 00:33
leader and to progress things forward in the future.
- 00:33 - 00:35
I've always valued change of progression,
- 00:35 - 00:38
which is something I try to implement in all aspects of my life.
- 00:38 - 00:41
I've had the opportunity to be introduced to the medical marijuana industry,
- 00:41 - 00:43
and I've been working in it for three years Now.
- 00:43 - 00:46
The industry is all about changing progression.
- 00:46 - 00:48
I want to showcase my artifacts that tie
- 00:48 - 00:49
into this line of work because there's something I
- 00:49 - 00:52
truly believe in something I really want to spend my time working on in the future.
- 00:52 - 00:56
My mother last year is diagnosed with lymph node and breast cancer.
- 00:56 - 01:00
She used an all THD treatment, which is a compound of the marijuana plant,
- 01:00 - 01:01
in order to reduce the size of her.
- 01:01 - 01:06
To us, it was an extremely successful medication plan, and she was cancer free.
- 01:06 - 01:10
An entire year later, the doctor said that I've never seen anything like it.
- 01:10 - 01:12
It's just something I want everyone to see.
- 01:12 - 01:14
And my mom's story is what motivates me to educate
- 01:14 - 01:16
and to advocate for this alternative use of medicine.
- 01:16 - 01:19
Not enough people understand what medical marijuana can
- 01:19 - 01:21
do and how healing it can really be.
- 01:21 - 01:24
I want everyone to be educated on this plant and for everyone to have
- 01:24 - 01:27
the opportunity to pursue it as their way of medicating if they choose to.
- 01:27 - 01:29
So having a chapter president,
- 01:29 - 01:31
having the experience of witnessing what medical marijuana
- 01:31 - 01:34
can do and working with patients everyday have shaped
- 01:34 - 01:37
me into the leader and the business woman I am today and the person I cannot wait
- 01:38 - 01:39
to keep progressing.
- 01:39 - 01:42
I'm excited to share with you what I've learned and
- 01:42 - 01:44
what I've put my knowledge towards about my academic career.
- 01:44 - 01:46
I'm extremely proud of these projects,
- 01:46 - 01:48
and I hope they continue to progress in the future.
- 01:48 - 01:51
You can find my artifacts under my portfolio section along with my resume.
- 01:51 - 01:54
Thank you for your time. And I hope you enjoy my portfolio.
