- 00:01 - 00:05
greetings to you all. I am David and I welcome you to today's presentation.
- 00:05 - 00:12
I am excited to to tell you about an investment opportunity in Ireland.
- 00:12 - 00:17
I have no doubt in my mind that you're going to enjoy what I will be presenting today.
- 00:17 - 00:20
So let me let me ask you this,
- 00:21 - 00:23
how many of you knew that Ireland is one
- 00:23 - 00:27
of the fastest growing pharmaceutical industries in europe.
- 00:28 - 00:32
I believe that today's presentation will give you more insight into this
- 00:32 - 00:38
industry which might very well be one of the best investment opportunities.
- 00:38 - 00:39
At the time.
- 00:39 - 00:44
I'll be talking about the economy, social aspects, the industry and research,
- 00:44 - 00:46
labor and taxation.
- 00:47 - 00:53
So first of all Ireland is a very stable and pro business economy
- 00:53 - 00:54
and
- 00:54 - 00:55
um
- 00:55 - 00:57
it is a committed
- 00:57 - 01:01
member state and adopted the era and has
- 01:01 - 01:05
a highly skilled and very educated workforce.
- 01:06 - 01:09
They have also seen huge investments um
- 01:09 - 01:14
in the past decades in infrastructure buildings,
- 01:14 - 01:17
facilities, manufacturing and so on
- 01:18 - 01:24
So quickly on the quickly on the G. D. p. um so in the past 30 years
- 01:24 - 01:27
Iran's economy grew from 30 billion
- 01:28 - 01:34
Um um um us dollars to 420 billion which is massive
- 01:34 - 01:41
and um it is projected to grow to 710 billion um in
- 01:41 - 01:47
just the next four years which is a very good opportunity to
- 01:47 - 01:50
get into this market as soon as possible.
- 01:53 - 01:59
Um The infrastructure in Ireland has improved a lot in the past decades.
- 01:59 - 02:03
Also now they're seeing big investments um like
- 02:03 - 02:06
the 6.16 billion investment in the national routes
- 02:07 - 02:11
A production of 600 electric carriages which will
- 02:11 - 02:16
connect all of Ireland and then expansion and upgrade
- 02:17 - 02:20
projects of ports, airports, railways and so on.
- 02:22 - 02:24
They are also committed
- 02:24 - 02:27
to adapt the renewable energies.
- 02:27 - 02:34
Um they are investing 8.5 billion in state sponsored sponsored utilities
- 02:34 - 02:39
Which also include water. So right at the moment about 10% of
- 02:39 - 02:43
Ireland's energy consumption is covered by renewable energies.
- 02:46 - 02:48
So let's get to the important part.
- 02:48 - 02:56
So um bio Pharma camp is a big organization which by now has more than 85 members.
- 02:56 - 03:01
Um All these members have seen massive investments in facilities
- 03:01 - 03:06
um manufacturing and research and development in the past decade.
- 03:06 - 03:09
On the map we can see that um
- 03:10 - 03:14
the green bubbles are the companies,
- 03:14 - 03:16
the pharmaceutical companies and these are all located
- 03:16 - 03:20
either around big cities or specific areas.
- 03:22 - 03:27
Those areas um usually um also have um
- 03:28 - 03:31
universities and research centers.
- 03:32 - 03:35
Um at the moment there are about 30,000
- 03:35 - 03:38
directly employed personnel
- 03:39 - 03:42
In this industry and 30,000 indirectly
- 03:44 - 03:45
which and all these
- 03:48 - 03:51
um These um created clusters,
- 03:51 - 03:55
clusters are deep use of talent. So on the map you can see
- 03:55 - 04:02
that the big green circles are the pharmaceutical companies and those are
- 04:02 - 04:08
all located very near to the research centers and um universities.
- 04:08 - 04:11
This brings all these talents together
- 04:11 - 04:17
um which improves efficiency both in manufacturing, research and supply.
- 04:20 - 04:28
Um Ireland has the youngest population in the whole of Europe, so um 33% um
- 04:28 - 04:31
of its population is under 25 years old,
- 04:34 - 04:36
which also combines with the
- 04:37 - 04:43
highly educated workforce. So about 83% of the
- 04:44 - 04:47
um population has a secondary education
- 04:48 - 04:55
And 56% has a tertiary education, which is the second highest in the whole of Europe.
- 04:56 - 04:58
And because of the this is it.
- 04:58 - 05:02
It has also seen the country has also seen a lot of influx
- 05:02 - 05:04
in international enrollment.
- 05:06 - 05:12
They have 250 million um labor pool across the European Union.
- 05:12 - 05:16
Um The government offers employment permits,
- 05:16 - 05:19
visas um through the trusted partner initiatives,
- 05:19 - 05:24
there are also other initiatives which helped the training
- 05:24 - 05:27
um of the workforce, offers scholarships and so on.
- 05:29 - 05:30
The labor cost um
- 05:31 - 05:36
In Ireland is 32 Eras which is very competitive in
- 05:36 - 05:43
comparison to the other big pharmaceutical countries like Germany,
- 05:43 - 05:45
France, Italy and so on.
- 05:48 - 05:50
Um so quickly to taxation
- 05:52 - 05:53
um
- 05:54 - 05:55
Ireland has
- 05:55 - 05:57
the lowest
- 05:57 - 06:03
or one of the lowest um corporation taxes um In europe
- 06:04 - 06:09
It has a for small to medium businesses. The corporation taxes 12.5%.
- 06:10 - 06:15
for multinationals, it will be 15% from 23 on,
- 06:16 - 06:20
But still then it's still 2012.5%.
- 06:20 - 06:24
The government also offers are 25
- 06:24 - 06:26
research and development tax credit
- 06:27 - 06:27
um
- 06:28 - 06:34
to incentivize and increase the in house R and D expenditure.
- 06:37 - 06:41
Um There's also an intellectual property regime. Um
- 06:42 - 06:48
uh There are tax depreciation depreciation for capital costs when acquiring an I.
- 06:48 - 06:53
P. There's also an effective tax rate of 12 6.25%
- 06:54 - 06:58
where applicable to certain patents and copyright income.
- 06:58 - 07:02
They're also deductions for interest expenses when borrowing
- 07:03 - 07:06
um to fund an acquisition of an I. P.
- 07:08 - 07:12
Thank you for your attention. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them.
