by sav
VENETIAN GLASS
VENETIAN GLASS WAS ONE OF THE WAYS ARTIST USED TO EXPRESS THEIR CREATIVITY. ALTHOUGH ITALY IS WHERE VENETIAN GLASS ORIGINATED,IT WAS LATER MOVED TO THE ISLAND OF MURANO, NOT FAR FROM ITALY. ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS WHY THE REPUBLIC DECIDED TO DO THIS WAS BECAUSE THEY CONSIDERED THE NUMEROUS FIRES FROM MAKING VENETIAN GLASS. SINCE ITLAY HOMES WERE ALL PRIMARILY WOODEN THIS MADE ALOT OF SENSE TO KEEP THE PEOPLE AND COMMUNITY SAFE.

BY :JOE

THE ERA IN WHICH THIS GREAT MUSIC SCHOOL WAS BUILT WAS AROUND THE EARLY 1500s. BY THAT TIME MASS PRINTING WAS NEARLY BEEN PERFECTED. MUSIC WAS ONLY TAUGHT AND LEARNED BY EAR AND MOST RECITED STRICTLY FROM MEMORY.
A church in Venice, Italy. Originally built in 829.
The first basilica was burned down in 976 in a result of a rebellion.
The present basilica was rebuilt in 1071.
THE FAME OF THE VENETIAN SCHOOL OF MUSIC AND ART WAS MOSTLY DUE TO ITS FOUNDER, A MAN NAMED ADRIAN WILLAERT. ADRIAN WILLEART WAS A NETHER-LANDISH COMPOSER OF THE RENAISSANCE WHO MOVED TO ITALY AND TAUGHT THE POLYPHONIC FRANCO-FLEMISH STYLE (A MOTET WRITTEN FOR FOUR VOICES OF EQUAL PITCH). HIS HISTORY AND TEACHINGS WERE FIRST IN LAW BUT QUICKLY CHANGED TO MUSIC AND HE STUDIED UNDER THE PRINCIPAL COMPOSER OF THE FRENCH ROYAL CHAPEL THE COMPATRIOT OF JOSQUIN DES PEREZ. WORD OF THE SCHOOL QUICKLY SPREAD AND STUDENTS SOON FOLLOWED.
MUSIC DISTRIBUTION
BY: JACKIE
THE VENETIAN SCHOOL OF MUSIC IS MOST FAMOUS FOR ITS POLYCHORAL (CHOIR) STYLE OF COMPOSITIONS WHICH WERE FAMOUS IN EUROPE BUT THEY ALSO TRAVELED TO OTHER COUNTRIES TO TEACH THIS STYLE AND SPREAD ITS GLAMOR. THIS SCHOOL WAS ONE OF THE ONLY MUSIC SCHOOLS IN HISTORY TO BE CREDITED WITH A CREATIVE ENVIRONMENT THAT VASTLY DIFFERED A CHANGED WORLD.
The basilica is the most beautiful and the most famous church in all of Venice.
Became the cathedral church of Venice in 1807.
The plan is a Greek cross, the building is placed on top of five domes. The design is distinctly Byzantine.
The interior is decorated with mosaics on gold ground and with different types of marble. The floor is of inlaid marble and glass. In the dark their colors glow. The screen separating the choir from the nave has marble statues, masterpieces of Venetian Gothic Sculptures.
Because of the the space and the way it was built, it was a must to create a musical style which enhanced the sound delay to their advantage instead of fighting against it. As a result, the Venetian polychoral style was developed.
Composers created a grand antiphonal style with groups of singers and instruments played together sometimes in opposition and sometimes together, united by the sound of an organ.
Adrian Willaert was the first composer to create this beautiful effect and became the Maestro Di Cappela of St. Mark's in 1527 until he died in 1562.
