Transcript: Phase III: It all Depends -those still alive to take it=maybe they’re the healthy ppl who are whose intelligence is less likely to decline -Old ppl @ disadvantage with SPEED intelligence tests Cognitive Development As adults get older, their physical abilities deteriorate but do their cognitive abilities decline as well? ppl accepted this for a while, as reflected when employees replace old workers with younger workers -crystallized intelligence: one’s accumulated knowledge, like vocab/general knowledge Phase II: Longitudinal Evidence for Intellectual Stability Older ppl (elderly, like 60s and above) usually do worse on these intelligence tests than younger ppl -fluid intelligence: one’s ability to reason quickly and solve logic problems quickly - While aging we remember some things very well, when asked to recall important events in their life, most people recall back to their teens and twenties -In experiments where older vs younger adults were asked to recall events or factors older adults had greater decline -but in recognition experiments there was no memory decline related with age -recognition memory is better in the day rather than night for older adults -meaningful information easier to remember -prospective memory remains strong when events help trigger memory -time based and habitual tasks prove more difficult -older people differ widely in their ability to learn and remember Phase I: Cross Sectional Evidence for INTELLECTUAL decline -Longitudinal Studies have some problems cross sectional study: study that compares ppl of diff. ages -their brains work slower -this doesn’t mean they are any LESS intelligent -Longitudinally: retesting same ppl over a period -results=intelligence remained stable until later in life -problem of cross sectional studies= comparing ppl of different eras -different eras=some better educated, different family size, different amount of wealth, (etc.many confounding variables) -What remains true is that older ppl’s CRYSTALLIZED INTELLIGENCE increases, but their FLUID INTELLIGENCE decreases Age and Memory Aging & Intelligence (180-182) -Intelligence=determined by many factors, therefore must be measured differently therefore the creator of these Intelligence tests claimed that intellectual ability DOES decline naturally with age

Popular game templates include: Family Feud Millionaire Jeopardy and other quiz shows. http://www.free-power-point-templates.com/deal-powerpoint-template/ Quick video on template "Millionaire" PowerPoint Games Some games are easier to make compared to others If users are unsure whether or not downloading certain templates is safe, you can actually make your own game by just simply using PowerPoint. add logo here References Example of a Family Feud Template PowerPoint Games are a great way to introduce new concepts and ideas You can create a fun, competitive atmosphere with the use of different templates You can change and rearrange information to correlate with the topic or idea being discussed. Great with students, workers, family, etc. For example: With games like Jeopardy and Family Feud, players can pick practically any answers. The person who is running the game will have to have all of the answers in order to determine if players are correct or not. However, with a game like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the players only have a choice between answers, A, B, C, or D. Therefore, when the player decides their answer, the person running the game clicks it, and the game will tell them whether they are right or wrong.

Now you can make any subject more engaging and memorable
