How did you attract your audience?
Who would be the audience for your media product?
I also attracted the audience by having popular artist names on the cover, as they are recognisable due to their fame. For example ‘Rihanna’ and ‘Beyoncé’ are just two of the many artists that may attract the reader to pick it up. I also added a puff, which could attract to the audience as the word ‘FREE’ is seen. This also may attract the audience as something for free is always a good bargain.
I had my model pose in front of an apartment, when the reader sees this cover, they could be interested as the apparent could be a type of housing that relates to the reader as realistically, only a minority of the population live in large mansions, whilst the majority live, or have lived in common housing such as an apartment.
First thing the audience will notice is the use of bold bright font. The masthead YOUNIQUE and the important headlines on the cover attract the audience in with its bright yellow font. This is important as the colour contrasts with the blue overcast on the background image. I also wanted my model to wear warm toned colours. This is so she could contrast with the background and her outfit can complement her complexion.
My audience would be young adults and teenagers, aged between 14-26. This is because my magazine is quiet informative yet maintains an element of humour and entertainment in order to keep my readers engaged.
Furthermore, the model on the cover is black which reflects the brand of the magazine as it embraces diversity. In the magazine there are also other races, which also highlights the diversity supported in the magazine. This also allows for a wider audience.
It is also aimed for male, female and non-binary, as my magazine is neither strongly feminine nor masculine. Although the cover of my magazine portrays a female, she is dressed as a tomboy which allows a gateway for both male and females to read the magazine. Further more the colours I used as the on going colour scheme is yellow – this colour is gender neutral which does not restrict my viewers expectations for the magazine.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
As the price of the magazine is cheap, it is affordable for those of working class or lower. Also, the headline ‘from the streets of south London to New York’ may interest readers who live in south London which is an area popular for its low-income household finances and cheap housing – showing a representation of the lower/working class.
A lot of the artists in my cover are also quite young which could be a representation of the younger generation such as Generation X , and Millennials. This is the majority of the population that use technology which may view the magazine online through the website or the app. I also used a hot flaming font which is a popular trend in 2016/2017 used amongst the younger generation.
On my cover, contents and double page spread the majority of the people portrayed in the pages are black. This is because RnB originated from black African American culture where it has developed and evolved into modern day culture where many non-black artists also contribute to the RnB industry.
