In the end, we decided on the 'Jock' font, as it's bold, clear and stands out. We also thought it could link in well to an image logo.

We then added a shield, a connotation of the word 'Alliance', yet also as a link to the American College-y font - as if this is a school emblem than a band logo.

First of all, we looked at band logos from bands similar to that which wrote the song (female lead vocals/pop-punk)

The scruffy look to 'Paramore's logo caught our eyes, as it gives the typewritten font a more edgy, rocky look; and the slight framing was a nice touch - it makes it stand out a little bit more.

From these, we found that our favourites included 'A Day To Remember' - as it has an All-American Jock look, only slightly rough around the edges to show a kind of rebellion towards the ideals of the Jock image.

The font also connotes school/college.

We then hammed up the 'school emblem' imagery by adding colour to the shield, a banner across the bottom, initials, and a pair of crossed swords, which we later replaced with guitars, which we thought was more fitting!

And the little symbol is a literal version of their band ethic/name - Rise Against. The heart is symbolic of love/unity/hope; the fist, of fighting; the arrows, of continuity/eternity. It's also done in a spray-painted style to make them seem like Guerrilla freedom fighters, trying to stick it to the man!

Another favourite of ours was the stencilled look of 'Fall Out Boy's logo: the stencil should make the logo look perfect, an image of conformity, yet the letters are slightly skewed and wonky.

The use of stencil also conjures up the thought of rebellious youths spray painting the image across walls as a middle finger to society!

Next, we tried our own...

We added red to the logo, as it connotes anger and power. It also seemed to be one of the more common colours in pop-punk logos.

Our first attempt was based on A Day To Remember's logo. We liked the boldness of it, and the outline made it stand out more.

Our second was copying the military-style stencil with the roughed up edges, because it was bold, clear to read and, face it, it looks pretty cool.

Our third was just an experiment. The band we took the song from are American, and we found these outlines from various american license plates. The connotations of trying to get away/escape we thought was quite powerful, and suited the punk image of rebellion. The downside is that it's a bit complex....

The last one we made was both bold and sketchy. We liked the worn/scratched effect at the bottom, because it looks edgy and rough, connoting toughness and hard-wearingness. Unfortunately, we thought it was a little too faded at the bottom.

4th was a homage to Fall Out Boys stencil logo, only rougher and less military looking. The scruffiness suits the youthfulness of our band, yet still has similar implications to the logo it was based on.
