Staff Training

All staff members to receive training from a suitably qualified individual on:

  • disability awareness
  • safeguarding
  • health and safety, lone worker
  • data protection, confidentiality
  • professional boundaries

students need to confirm that they understand the cancellation procedure, i.e. who/how to contact, notification period and consequences of not cancelling

  • comply with DPA
  • records to contain just enough detail to ensure support needs are met
  • SW can only carry out the role for which they are registered
  • must have appropriate qualifications
  • must be members of a relevant professional body
  • comfortable and confidential
  • accommodates student's disability needs
  • should not take place in an open public place
  • support via Skype or in student's home ok if specifically recommended on NAR

CPD and Training Records

Confirmation of Support Sessions

  • relevant suitable CPD and training, including updating skills in new practices
  • updating knowledge of enabling technology and software as required
  • date, time, location agreed in advance with student
  • session confirmed 1-7 days in advance using 'student's preferred method of communication'
