American Students

fundraise to participate in

German American Partnership Program

German American Partnership Program

(GAPP)

  • Nearly every year, a group of 12 students come from Hannover, Germany to participate in a 2-week exchange.
  • German students stay with American families, attend classes, and immerse into the Portland life.
  • This program is national, but Roberta Cooper started the exchange partnership in 1983. This year marks the 20th year that Madison High School has participated in the GAP-Program
  • In an ideal world, Madison students would have had the opportunity to make the exchange happen to go to Hannover each year, but the cost of the flight has hindered many students from participating.
