  • Read the Intro
  • Read the Conclusion
  • Read the first & last paragraph of each sectionchapter
  • Read/skim through the entire reading

During Class

  • Make it a reader-based approach
  • Read your paper aloud

After Class

  • Revise your notes
  • Review your notes for next class
  • Ask about what you learned

Study Practices

  • Study in an environment that works for you

  • Limit your distractions; they can be good stress relievers within reason (social media, friends, etc.)

  • A work-break balance is typically 45-15 or 50-10

  • Reviewing material is only effective when you practice the ideas & concepts you reviewed

  • If a professor tells you to focus on a specific area, do it.

  • Use a planner/agenda to help plan out a weekly, daily and monthly schedule

  • Break up your to do list into smaller parts with a realistic estimate of time

  • Find out where, when and how you can work most effectively
  • Knowing yourself is important to understanding how you learn and how you have grown.
  • Keep in mind that you are in charge of yourself
  • This means that success, whether at BMC or outside of it, is dependent on you.
