I attracted my audience in a number of ways, I made a questionnaire to see what they would prefer a magazine they would read to be like, when I got the audience feedback I collected everything together and figured out what was best for my final product. I chose colours that would attract the audience, so for example I used red and black which I thought stood out very well rather than pastal and dull colours.

Question 5

When designing my final products I had to take everything into consideration including the price, I didn’t want my magazine to be too dear but also not too cheap, because stereotypically people think cheap things are rubbish. So I placed my price in the middle at put it at £3, this was a normal price compared to other indie magazines I researched for example NME and Q.

Codes and conventions are the main guides that I kept to when designing my front cover, contents page and double page spread. This was mainly because I didn’t want to challenge them as every other magazine uses the same codes and conventions and they get sold day in day out, so if I do the same it should attract my target audience

When taking my image for the main front cover, I took a number of images as I didn’t feel happy with my first few. I thought that the eye contact had to be very vivid to attract the audience and it had to connote a serious indie atmosphere for the audience to be able to understand what kind of magazine they are about to buy. On my contents page I made sure the pictures I used that were involved with the pages looked exciting, this was to ensure the reader would be keen to read that particular page. Coverlines were very important to attracting the audience as they are on the front cover, so I thought they had to be exciting otherwise the reader would not look twice about buying it.
