Freelance

Freelance Job Grime artist/Producer

Alex Johnson-Cole

Working Hours/Payment Taxes

First Steps of becoming a freelance in music production

The working hours are very flexible only if you have a home studio , but if you have a studio in a public place e.g youth center then you will have to work your efficiently and it wont really be up to you on when you get to leave early or finish late. If working in a home studio you can manage your time so you can make a diary and scedual the times you are free so who ever booked the studio session they come in for that time.

You will get paid on how much you actually work ,for so if you have a busy scedual of 6 people for 3hour session e.g. then you can charge people £20 an hour and just from that 3hours session from one person you have £60 pound and that's just from one session ,so really it depends on how much people want studio time from you ,that will then determine how much you earn .

Taxes

If you have a home studio then you wont really have to pay taxes because you've spent your own money on your studio so the money internally is yours ,unless equipment breaks then the money you get paid you can use it to replace the broken equipment. If you do not have a home studio then you will unfortunately will have to pay taxes ,because you are using someone else studio and you will have to pay them for using there studio.

Describe what I will do ?

I will be working in my own studio or someone elses studio e.g Home studio or studio that's been rented out making different instrumentals and working with other producers sampling instruments and different sound bites, Also in music producing I will be working with artists working on the vocals.

The studio doesn't have to be a studio in a different area /rented out studio , it can be a home studio where you have all your equipment that you will need.
