My Final Reaction

I only thought this quoite applied to exactly what the quote was saying, but later realized that it meant more. I feel that it also means that fear is a unniversal emotion that humans feel, and all people overcome fear in their own ways. To Emily Bronte, however, I think that she only used the quote to characterize the protagonist becasue the quote didn't mean something personal to her.

Giant anteaters kill two hunters in Brazil

In the first case, a 47-year-old man was hunting with his two sons and his dogs when they came upon a giant anteater in northern Brazil. The hunter did not shoot at the animal, but he approached it with his knife drawn.

The anteater stood on its hind legs and grabbed the man with its forelimbs, causing deep puncture wounds in his thighs and upper arms.

The hunter bled to death at the scene, said the report, which noted that the encounter happened on August 1, 2012 but had not been described in scientific literature until now.

The other case involved a 75-year-old man who died in 2010 when an anteater used its long front claws -- which typically help it dig into anthills -- to puncture his femoral arteries, located in the groin and thigh

Teen Who Killed Bully Was Afraid for His Life, Police Say

Thursday, June 19, 2014

A Bronx teenager who fatally stabbed a classmate told police he was bullied and he feared for his life, the NY Post reports.

“The victim was definitely the aggressor,” a police source told the NY Post.

The two boys were former friends. But the stolen cell phone and an unpaid loan drove a wedge between them.

Police say when Timothy jumped Noel he didn’t realize the boy was armed with a kitchen knife. “He brought the knife to school because he was afraid for his life,” a police source said.

Noel was described as an “emotionally fragile” teen who stayed away from school for months because he was afraid of Timothy.

My Initial Reaction

"Terror made me cruel; and finding it useless to attempt shaking the creature off, I pulled its wrists on to the broken pane, and rubbed it to and fro till the blood ran down and soaked the bed clothes..." - Emily Bronte

Three Instances and Reactions

"That's an extremely broad topic. You're gonna have to narrow it down for me.

- Mrs. Jessica Green

"You may do cruel things when in fear because you don't know who to turn to.

- Mr. Tony Kenner

"The Nazi soldiers had a choice. They could either do what the were told, or die. But, out of fear, they chose to do the cruel thing because they themselves didn't want to die. - Mr. Mark Qualls

Song: Overcomer by Mandisa

Staring at a stop sign

Watching people drive by

T Mac on the radio

Got so much on your mind

Nothing's really going right

Looking for a ray of hope

Whatever it is you may be going through

I know He's not gonna let it get the best of you

You're an overcomer

Stay in the fight ‘til the final round

You're not going under

‘Cause God is holding you right now

You might be down for a moment

Feeling like it's hopeless

That's when He reminds You

That you're an overcomer

You're an overcomer

"We said, 'We will catch you. Trust us,'" Rose said.

The woman dropped her 3-year-old son first, and then her 6-year-old daughter. Rose and his cousin handed the kids to John's sister, Allana Gallup, and Caitlin Bildilli.

Then, the woman began throwing down some of her personal belongings, Rose said, including a laptop, cell phone and other personal belongings.

She surprised the teens when she suddenly jumped, but John Gallup said he was able to grab her upper body and cushioned her fall. She suffered a minor scrape to her knee.

Justin Rose said firefighters told him that the survival rate of a child falling from a second-story level was 30 percent to 40 percent without someone helping, and 40 percent for an adult.

"If you were to take those odds and they would have just jumped, their chances of survival would be very slim," Rose said.
