What media institution might distribute your media product and why?

A media institution that might distribute our media prodcut would be Warp Films

‘Warp Films’ was laumched in 2001 and started off as an independent small budget film company. However they now lead the way in British film making.

The company has been behind an array of critically acclaimed and award-winning films, including several BAFTAs. Warp Film productions include Rubber Johnny, Dead Man’s Shoes, This Is England, Donkey Punch, A Complete History of My Sexual Failures and Four Lions.

A prime example from Warp Films is 'Exhbit A'

'Exhibit A'

The film focuses on a family, which is made to seem all very normal, but then Judith, starts obsessively filming her family, mainly her Dad. Within the trailer you see the twisted nature of the naivity contrasted with the events occurring. We see the Dad crack under the pressures of family and life, and going through financial issues, ending with ghastly results due to this.

With distributing 'Exhibit A', Warp Films would be a good media institution to distribute the films for many. Both our media product, 'The Oxonians' and 'Exhbit A' shows similarities.

Both films are indepently made and on a low budget. However narrative wise they both focus on a close group relationship and the lives lived around this.

Another great example, from Warp Films is the newly released film, 'Submarine'

'Submarine'

'Submarine' is an independant film aimed at 16-26 year olds. Music from the popular band, 'The Arctic Monkeys' was featured in the film to help attract this audience.

Simmilary to our media product, 'The Oxonians'. 'Submarine' also features young teenage actors and the characters they portray are outcasts and their lives are looked into closely within the film. Although both films of a different genre, the aspects that are similar attract the same audience and is something that has been succesfully produced throughout.

Therefore, Warp Films would be a suitable media institution to distribute our film because it breaks the conventions of showing teenagers in a stereotypical way, in cliche groups, just like we have aimed to and does so succesfully.
