How we received feed back
My group and I, uploaded our music video to Facebook and YouTube. We then asked people to watch it and then comment on anything good or bad that they thought about it. Furthermore we uploaded pictures we were considering to use in our digipak and magazine advert into a seperate album on Facebook. We then asked people to click the "Like" button on the pictures they liked most. We then used the pictures that had the most like clicks on them. I also filmed some of my feed back and have uploaded that to YouTube. We also gave member of our target audience a questionnaire to answer and we filmed our group asking them the questions.
Negative Comments:
Halfway through the making:
Our peers said that the drumming needed to
be re filmed as it was out of sync with the song.
Our teachers said that there needed to be a caption including the band name and song after the music video otherwise the band wouldn't be selling themselves. In addition they said some of the performance shots needed to be re filmed as they didnt look convincing enough.
The final Music Video:
Some of our feed back audience said they would have liked to have seen more narrative as the narrative:performance ratio was quite low.
Digipak:
The engraved writing was difficult to read, it needed to be more black and darker.
Magazine Advert:
The spaces between the writing looked out of shape and the picture needed to be enlarged.
Positive Comments:
Halfway through the making:
We received feedback from many people. Our peers said that the narrative ran smoothly and the variety of shots looked effective. Our teachers said the timing of the shot lengths matched the pace of the song nicely.
The Final Music Video:
The lip syncing matched the song perfectly. Someone said "It looks like a professional music video" when they elaborated they said it was because the video suited the song really well and the performance was really believable.
Digipak:
They like how the picture of the guitar head has writing and letters engraved into it.
Magazine Advert:
They liked how the picture used on the magazine advert was the same as the picture on the front cover of the digipak.
How the comments might change the way I work in the future as a group or individual:
Taking into account all the feed back I have received I feel that next time I work in a group there could be more communication. For example when filming individual shots, to prevent having to re film them I could discuss what the group thinks about the shot and watch over it more than once to make an informed decision. In terms of working on my own I feel that I personally would have benefited more if I had asked for feed back more frequently and earlier on, in the stages of making my music video, digipak and magazine advert. For example I could have asked what my teachers though about the storyboard of my music video before filming and I could have asked them to look at the plan of my digipak and magazine advert before I started making them. I have learned that in the future if i were to make another multi media project I would do more research into existing products. By doing this I would be enhancing my knowledge of the real conventions, therefore making it easier to stick to those conventions when it comes to making my own products. I have learned a lot about using multiple technologies throughout the making of this project. I feel that by using the feed back I have received I know that I need to pay more attention to what the audience would like to see when planning my products.
What the comments have taught me about the process of producing and editing a music video:
I have learnt that when producing a music video I need to consider what each individual shot will look like before and after the clips that will be put next to it. So for example in the narrative sequence we have a shot of the main character walking down a street. Originally this shot lasted 10 seconds. However the shot that was being placed after it was the character arriving at the door and this progressed into him having an arguement. These next clips are short and fast moving therefore the longer walking clip needed to be cropped down.
