It is very easy to get caught up in a project and not see what you need to change/ improve. The audience feedback allowed us to take a step back from our product and listen to what people had to say, the pro's and the con's for all three parts of the promotional package.
The Good
Everyone said that they were able to recognise the genre of film- dance parody, across all three texts because there was inclusion of dance sequences in the trailer and in the poster and magazine cover there was an aspect of movement within them. They could also that all the characters they saw were made to be as stereotypical as possible.
Some of our audience said that they would go and see our film because it seemed funny and they were interested to see the journey the main character goes on and in our trailer we wanted to try and create a sense of journey and so it was good to know that we succeeded in doing this and that it was funny becuase sometimes it is hard to create comedy that an audience can understand and relate to so I think that this was quite a big achievement.
The Bad
The Trailer
After people had watched the trailer they said that some of these scenes were too long and we needed to make clips faster to build up excitement for the audience and so when we went back to look at the trailer we tried cut some of the scenes down particular in the "auditions bit" of the trailer were many said that the one audition was far too long so we decided to film more and we decided to make the auditions as different as possible to add variety, we decided to use the stereotypes of the "rocker" and the "bollywood dancer" because they are extreme and so fit in with the genre of- dance parody. When editing the auditions together we decided to piece together fitting music for each clip of dancing which exaggerates the stereotype even more.
Also in our swing dancing scene people said that it looked too much like friends messing around, having fun then an actual dance sequence, we did not have enough time to re-shot it so we had to try and edit it in a way that looked more like a dance routine because the whole point is that the "crew" take there dancing seriously and the audience laugh at getting concepts of different styles of dance and the seriousness of them adds even more humour to the mix.
