Kenny challenges Cartman, both on a friend level and in Superhero-mode clarifying his actual objectives.
Mint Berry Crunch's alien parents appear in holographic form at this critical moment and his powers of mint and berry crunch are revealed. He saves the day, via his own narrative, but that's the only one available, and his seemingly silly self-defined super powers are validated.

The Coon is then imprisoned with Professor Chaos.
Mysterion dies again, committing suicide, and the mystery of his reoccurring death/rebirth cycle is revealed.
The South Park Superhero Arc
The Human Kite (Kyle Broflovski) - His (imaginary) superpowers include the ability to fly and "shoot lasers out of his eyes".
Toolshed (Stan Marsh) - Possesses telepathic control over all power tools.
Mysterion (Kenny McCormick) - Democratically elected leader of Coon and Friends after the Coon is kicked out. Being incapable of dying, he is one of two of the members to have actual superpowers.
The team's headquarters are based in Eric Cartman's basement, and uses common household items for equipment, such as televisions and computers with Coon-themed names.
Mosquito (Clyde Donovan) - Was bitten by a radioactive mosquito and gained mosquito-related superpowers.
TupperWear (Token Black) - Got into a car accident and was put back together with TupperWear parts.
Mint-Berry Crunch (Bradley Biggle) - Possesses "the power of mint and berries, yet with a satisfying, tasty crunch!" He is the only other member of the group (along with Kenny) who has actual superpowers.
Coon & Friends Alert - to announce a burning building with 20 people trapped inside.
Iron Maiden (Timmy Burch) - Is apparently indestructible.
Cthulhu tries to stand up to the Coon, and loses.
Mint Berry Crunch's choice of super hero persona
is questioned in the first three seconds of the episode.
Captain Hindsight appears to be the guide of the people, but his super power involves pointing out everything that was wrong with the infrastructure from building arrangement to fire cause. Once he finishes assessing the situation, the public packs it up and walks away from the remaining victims.
Liane Cartman is the actual Guide and Mentor, watching out for the good of the group as a whole and even transporting them across the threshold--though unwittingly at first. When she realizes that she's taken the boys to an actual fire, she cautions as much as possible.
Mysterion and Mint Berry Crunch sort of join forces.
... upon seeing Mysterion, Bradley rushes back to his
room and again adopts the role of Mint Berry Crunch
and in walks Bradley aka Mint Berry Crunch
The boys cross the threshold when they get to the scene of the emergency and due to social structures, such as safety and concern, the firemen (Guardians) tell them to step back and stay out of the way. They observe the rest of the scene unfold.
"Sha-bla-goo"
Bradley utters his transformative
phrase and spins around...
Mysterion Challenges the Goth kids again to find out how to challenge Cthulhu, without knowing that they've grown frustrated with the lack of progress the dark lord has made… essentially that they still have to go to school.
Successfully returning/awakening in his bed, in his trusty orange sweater, Kenny dons his hero identity and rushes out to face his present situation to save his friends.
Once arriving in the dark oblivion, Mysterion sacrifices his life, betting that he will wind up back home, and it works, though it hurts terribly.
The Coon then gets Cthulhu to banish his friends to a dark oblivion. Mint Berry Crunch pees his pants and runs home to bravely watch Judge Judy and convince himself that his friends are alright.
At the plot's dark climax, when the friends are
zapped to oblivion by Cthulu, Mint Berry Crunch
(showing his Bradley side) makes a run for it.
The Coon returns to his home, singing George Michael's "Faith" and begins using the "Lebron James Technique" which involves diverting attention from oneself after doing something terrible, that affects the reputation. The technique is to respond to any criticism by asking "What should I do?" and then coming up with a number of silly hypothetical variations designed to gain pity.
Having escaped the disaster, Bradley/ Mint Berry
seeks the comfort in order as provided by the TV
program Judge Judy.
In his moment of complete friend betrayal, Cartman views
his actions as heroic. His view of valor involves fame and power--to him this is one of his greatest moment of success.
Being held back by the fire-fighters
Captain Hindsight's derailment of the cause
As they observe the scene of events their opinion about the problems to solve develop a certain gravity. They begin plotting how to help, and how to get to the next incident before Captain Hindsight.

The Friends greet this technique with a point-blank 2 word response that stuns him momentarily. He then convinces them to come outside and look at a double rainbow.

The third episode of the Superhero Arc starts with the narrative of Mint Berry Crunch. This element of the plot reveals that each character views themselves as central to the plot, as truly self-identified heroes, though it sometimes sways to extremes. Mint Berry "Brings the Crunch".
Mysterion develops a plan for the next catastrophe…
to beat Hindsight to the scene
BP Oil Spill and being trumped by Captain Hindsight again
The Coon and Cthulhu fly around destroying everything that Cartman hates.
The Coon develops his scheme to blackmail Captain Hindsight and Mosquito questions his aim in relation to helping the world. Mysterion and Toolshed back him. Mosquito then suggests a bake sale to help the Gulf Relief Fund.
"Sometimes being a hero means helping in smaller ways." - Mysterion
DP (Dependable Petroleum) accidentally rips a hole into another dimension with their continued drilling.
The Cult has several members of the South Park community including the shop teacher Richard Adler and the Goth Kids. Mysterion's special power becomes more visible within the plot line and to various characters, though everyone forgets the day after he dies, except his parents.
Cartmen turns once the team diverges and viciously attacks Mosquito and Mint Berry Crunch who rushes to Mosquito's rescue.
Mysterion challenges the Goth Kids in an alley and the Cult leaders show up delivering a death threat.
With Liane Cartman's support, the Friends kick the Coon out of Coon and Friends. She grounds him for beating up his friends, and punishes him by letting his friends play superheroes without him.
This is actually a success for the Friends.
DP drills on the moon in order to counteract the drilling pressure on the Earth and inadvertently release the Dark Lord Cthulhu.
For each catastrophe they issue a special apology and call this the "I'm Sorry Campaign"
The Friends show up almost in time to save Mysterion.
The Cult leader stabs him and Mysterion dies before all of them. He wakes up moments later, perhaps longer, to the Friends at his bedroom door asking him why he disappeared.
The Coon finds a way to charm Cthulhu (by giving him a tummy rub) and becomes his manipulator.
The Coon and Friends episode ends with Coon vowing vengeance against the Friends.
Mysterion faces them as his hero-self later that evening--something he has apparently done before… commanding they straighten up, quit smoking so much weed and give the boys an allowance.
This time he questions them about their involvement in the cult, and discovers that they went to the meetings for free beer but remember nothing.
... and Cthulhu is released
The Friends identify and locate an existing Cult of Cthulhu in the town of South Park, discovering that Mysterion/Kenny's parents were a part of it at one time.
Captain Hindsight adopts his old role as a reporter.
The boys receive positive media and community support for their bake sale effort, though it is fleeting.
Hindsight discards his role as hero when some blackmail photos of him and poor Professor Chaos turn up.
For the Coon he hits rock bottom when a little girl in the airport recognizes the efforts of the Friends and their bake sale, which they achieved without him. He attacks her and begins to project his ego-struggle on the characters that don't agree with him.
Professor Chaos plays the prisoner throughout, stating that he was convinced that the Coon/ Eric would let him go if he cooperated in the blackmail of Hindsight.
In Mysterion Rises, Mysterion identifies and reveals all he knows about his actual super-power, that he does not die.
Professor Chaos/ Butters Stotch has historically been unable to defend himself, and actually lacks most of the barriers of self-awareness that the rest of the boys have.
The Coon discards his role as friend and his place at his home/The Coon and Friends Headquarters and pursues Cthulhu in order to request he banish the Friends to a dark oblivion.
His continual death/rebirth sequence is present in most of South Park's history.
