The work I'm presenting here is a collective production by the team of students called "Starkids"from the 9th grades, Rovnoe secondary school. We've tried to know as much as posssible about Dallas, Texas, the sister-city of Saratov, which is the capital of my native region. I with my classmates made an imaginary trip to Dallas, we created some videos of the city's sights and dubbed several films. I hope you'll enjoy this trip too.

A.Vershinin, the film operator.

They fascinate us.

They frighten us.

We love to see you

Rediscover past with the Old Red Museum!

The Dallas Holocaust Museum

It’s history that moves you forward

A different world can't be built by indifferent people. Be an upstander!

Let’s start our sightseeing tour around the city with the historic Old Red Courthouse in the heart of downtown, whose friendly staff will help make our visit more enjoyable. The Old Red museum is truly a treasure house chronicling the vibrant story of Dallas County from pre-history (see the Mammoth tusk!) to the present day. Housing 1,000 artifacts and historic photos, 41 touch screens and 4 mini-theatres, it’s one of the few hands-on history education centres in the world.

“The Dallas Holocaust Museum/Center for Education and Tolerance is dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust, and to teaching the moral and ethical response to prejudice, hatred and indifference, for the benefit of all humanity.”

The symbol of rebirth and inspiration

Our meeting with Pegasus in Dallas

The neon Pegasus has been a traditional symbol for Dallas for a long time, it graces the top of the Magnolia Building, at one time the tallest skyscraper in town, and could be seen for miles. It became a trademark of Mobil Oil. Mobil Oil started as the Magnolia Oil Company. The symbolism of Pegasus varies with time. Symbol of wisdom and fame from the Middle Ages until the Renaissance, he became a symbol of rebirth as well as of poetry and the creator of sources in which the poets come to draw inspiration

Sports in Big D

If you are a sport lover you'll find a lot of sport events to your taste in Dallas, as Dallas is sports-mad and one of only six cities in the U.S. to support teams in all the major professional sports leagues.

Thanks-Giving Square serves as a common ground, a sanctuary, where there can be a confluence of faiths and traditions in discussion of shared concern. In Dallas, Thanks-Giving Square is a central meeting place where citizens from diverse backgrounds can use thanksgiving as a way to heal divisions and enhance mutual understanding.

Football

The Dallas Cowboys, five-time Super Bowl Champions and "America's Team," play at the Cowboys' new stadium which seats 80,000 and is the largest domed stadium in the country having a hole in the roof

Baseball

The Texas Rangers (formerly owned by the former president of the U.S., George W. Bush) play from April to October at one of the finest stadiums in the country, Rangers Ballpark, a home field that recalls the glory days of baseball.

Hockey

Dallas may not seem like the most logical place for a professional ice hockey team, but Big D has one of the best, the Dallas Stars (the 2000 Western Conference Champions), and Dallasites are wild about them. The Stars play at the American Airlines Center; the season is September through April.

If you’re new to Dallas, either as a resident or a visitor, it wouldn’t do to miss visiting the Dallas World Aquarium at the West End district. This place is a good spot to hide from all the worries and demands of life as well as from the sun, communing with a pool of sea creatures that entertain, amuse and educate. Generally, the Dallas Aquarium houses different species of aquatic animals such as ocean and freshwater fishes, amphibians, some reptiles and many more. Of course, it’s more than just a couple of tanks with fishes as the place features some great stuff that you can enjoy. Visitors may possibly observe feeding of the animals at a specific time and listen to different informative talks about the animal’s anatomy and behavior, in particular.

They do not only have a traditional aquarium with fish in tanks divided by locations, countries, & islands around the world, they have an area with South African pengiuns and even a rainforest. You start at the top of the rainforest and wind your way through the monkeys, down to the sloths & birds, over to the otters, snakes, down to the crocodiles, piranhas, and then you are below the fish looking up through the glass at manatees, fish, ducks, turtles, etc. They have a new exhibit, Mundo Maya, featuring what it feels like in the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico. You see hummingbirds, a jaguar, flamingos, and sharks. Then you wind your way down and find yourself walking underneath the shark tank.

The reason this place is so great is that they make it feel as though you are in a rainforest and in Mexico. You aren't looking at animals behind glass. Rather you are out there with them.

Golf

The PGA Byron Nelson Championship, named for a local legend, has been held in Dallas for the past 3 decades every May.

Basketball

The Dallas Mavericks, one of the top teams in the NBA, call the American Airlines Center home.

The DWA has over 85,000 gallons of saltwater for aquatic life, with tunnels, reef level views, and also above water natural habitat areas for all kinds of saltwater, freshwater, and amphibian exhibits. There are also plenty of above water exhibits including a flamingo pen, penguin pools, and monkey enclosures. In addition there is a jaguar exhibit and since it is enclosed, there are plenty of birds flying throughout the enclosed aviary.

Rodeo

One of the top rodeos in Texas, and a huge draw for out-of-towners and travelers from abroad, is the Mesquite Championship Rodeo. April to September, you can check out some authentic professional rodeo action - bull riding, saddle and bareback riding, calf roping, and chuck-wagon races.

Soccer

The newest professional team in the area, FC Dallas, plays outdoor soccer (MLS). Conference champions in 2006, FC Dallas moved from the Cotton Bowl to Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, 30 miles north of Dallas, and draws more than 1.5 million fans to its 20,000-capacity stadium.
