Cinema City may be very interested in distributing our film, yet our lack of funding and publicity will make it challanging to gain interest. If the film recieved awards at The British Independent Film Awards there would be a instant attraction to the film and gather a more articulate audience.
If "Catch it, Kill it" became full length i think that Warp film might decide to fund and distribute it. This is because the film deals with homophobic issues which are recognizable to young people who may have fallen victim to homophobic attacks or know people who have. Warp film is widely known for its diverse films which target and audience of sixteen to twenty-five year old's, Warp films also likes to touch on very realistic issues and enables its target audience to relate to them. This is perfect for our short film, but sadly Warp is also know for its wild and wacky short films such as Rubber Johnny by the Aphex Twins, whereas our production is very predictable.
Our film; "Catch it, Kill it" is an independent film which will attract a specialist audience. I think this is because of the homophobic issues highlighted in our thriller, many people will feel uncomfortable being confronted with the raw realism of the piece. Because of this we have considered what cinemas and outlets would be interested in buying our film, which may not sell as strongly as BAFTA award winning "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy", I realize
that Tinker Tailor had a pre-existing audience which will increase interest whereas our film is independent.
Question 3:
what kind of media institutions might distribute your media product and why ?
Our film would sell better at an Art House cinema like Cinema City and Picture House because of the raw ways in which culture are potrayed, whereas films in Vue and Odien are more mainstream and formulaic to suit there target audience.
Realizing that independent films such as Animal kingdom were unable to reach a large audience due to lack of publicity and funding whereas films like Tinker Tailor were distributed by Studio Canal and Focus Features and reached over 809 cinemas world wide. We decided that our film will be distributed more on the internet. Using the internet we will be able to create free online advertisements and will allow us to reach our target audience easier.

The internet is much cheaper and easier because as a group we have an extremely low budget meaning free advertisement and distribution is vital. we aren't really interested in selling the film for a profit but more interested in showing our abilitys as directors to the public. We will send our film to The Indie short film competition as well as distributing it on YouTube. The use of YouTube is vital because it will allow people to share our film between friends and increase interest and popularity for our film, we could even generate a cult following.
