Library Induction

  • C-Link access available- linked to the University Network.
  • Internet access is available on Wyse terminals via Cardiff University login.
  • University username & password required.

Removable Media Policy

Following the implementation of the Health Boards Removable Media policy, memory sticks can be used on a 'read only' basis.

We recommend that you save your work to your personal H: Drive via C-link.

Books:

  • Approximately 12,000 books across both sites.

  • Covering wide variety of subjects: Medicine, dentistry, nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, chiropody, dietetics, pharmacology, psychology management, public health and general practice.

  • PCs available across both sites.

  • Health Board Intranet access is available and is to be used for NHS and University research purposes only.

  • Access to Cardiff University blackboard resources is available.

  • Free WiFi access is available via the Cloud. To be used on your own personal devices. Registration is required.

Forms

  • There are forms available for users to recommend books that they think may be valuable to the library collection.

Around 90 Journals available in total.

  • For medical staff
  • For professions allied to medicine
  • For nursing/midwifery

Borrowing from the library

  • Loan up to 10 items at any one time across both sites

  • Books- 4 week, 2 week or overnight loan

  • Journals- Reference only

  • Books can be renewed in person, by telephone or email

Please return everything before the end of your placement

Photocopying

&

Scanning Facilities

Users may photocopy and print out information with the provisions of the Act under 'fair dealing'.

A warning poster advising users regarding what may be copied safely, is displayed beside the photocopier and in the rooms with PCs.

We have arrangements with:

  • NHS Trust libraries throughout Wales
