Following and connecting with fellow educators through Twitter guided me to interesting blogs and trends in the educational technology world.
Storybird gives students a chance to write stories, using professional illustrations. For a fee, they can even have them professionally published.
Livebinders helped me organize my online resources easily and efficiently, giving me, my staff and my students fast online access to hand-picked websites.

I found Pinterest to be a very visually appealing social bookmarking site. I am using it to organize images, websites and blogs that are of interest to me both personally and professionally.
Zooburst offers students a fun way to illustrate their stories. The virtual pop-up features are appealing, as is the ability to view the books in 3D.

Signing up for Facebook allowed me to connect and reconnect with family and friends. It was important that I learn about Facebook in order to teach about it and use it in the educational setting.
I had fun playing with Xtranormal. I can see it being a great tool to make an animated film for creative writing or to use to showcase a final project for a research assignment. See my example here:

Kidblog offers a safe blogging environment for students to write and share. It gives them an authentic venue to start building their digital tattoo and start practicing good "netiquette". I am looking forward to using it with the Grade 7 students.
Prezi has so many options within its presentation platform. I can see myself using it to liven up lessons or possibly as a final presentation option for grade 7 students.
This is social networking about the love of reading! My students had fun putting books on virtual bookshelves, making recommendations and discussing what they were reading. I found it to be another good vehicle to teach proper "netiquette" for social media.
