In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My media piece used conventions such as one picture on the front cover for example Vibe magazine uses only one image on the front cover...

I used a headline, i took into consideration that my magazine was a pop/r&b magazine and thought of the word "sweet" i feel that it represents the genre of my magazine.

I also used a lead when writing my double page spread, this is where the first paragraph is in bold and the rest of the article is not.

At the start of my double page article I used a drop capital, this is were the first letter of my article is in a larger size and a different font.

I used a copy on my magazine, telling the reader what the main article in the magazine will be about.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience for my magazine would be targeted at teenage girls...

Who are interested in pop/r&b style music.

How did you attract/address your audience?

I attracted my audience by using the same structure that pop/r&b magazines use; i used the same style of competitions that other related magazines use.

I used an itallic title; i feel it made my magazine look elegant, i believe this would attract the female audience i am intended to get. I also used pink in my magazine also relating to the target audience teenage/young adult females.

I used buzz words on my front cover and contents page, i used words as 'wow' and 'WIN' i felt that this will attract my target audience, as many young people are attracted to free things and competitions.

I used competitions in the magazine for tickets for a very popular singer which my audience listen to...

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My magazine represents my particular social group which is teenage girls. The content of my magazine is suitable for my targeted social group, the content would most probably not appeal to an elderly audience. for example the articles used are on the role modles of the teenage girl social group.

Using young pop stars which my target social group would listen to will entise them to buy the magazine for example, creating a competition to win V.I.P tickets to Miley Cyrus world tour would deffinatly get my target audiences attention.

The advertisments that are used through out my magazine would appeal to my target social group, for example '20% off topshop' would appeal to teenage girls because topshop is a common shop that alot of teenage girls shop in.

The fashion that my singers are wearing is "up to date" and young. It is the type of clothing that my target social group would be wearing,so this would appeal to them.

What have you learnt about technologies

from the process of constructing this product?

I feel that i have learnt to use a variety of new technologies, such as photoshop and Macromedia Fireworks;I thought they were complicated whilst learning how to use but now i have a basic knowledge of the programmes i feel that i was able to use them effectivly to work my magazine.

During the whole coursework time i have also learnt how to use indesign; i feel that it is very hard to use and feel that if there is an alternative such as photoshop i would use that instead.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I feel that my magazine cover now compared to my college magazine cover shows a hugh improvement because on my preliminary task i just used publisher but with my magazine now i know how to take professional photographs using the rule of thirds and also with the use of the new technologies i feel that the magazine is of a higher quality than my college magazine.

I also belive that learning how to use the new technologies such as photoshop and macromedia Fireworks, i feel that it has taken my magazine now into a completely different level from my preliminary task, i did not do any editing in my college magazine cover but alot of editing in my magazine cover now.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Quincy Jones launched Vibe in 1993, in partnership with Time Inc. The publication predominantly features R&B and hip-hop music artists, actors and other entertainers. Issued quarterly, the magazine's target demographic is predominantly young, urban followers of hip-hop culture.

I would pitch an offer towards the Vibe magazine company, I believe that my magazine would be suitable for pop and R&B followers.
