Picasso became very famous during his lifetime. In 1937 Spain was involved in a civil war and the small town of Guernica was destroyed by bombs and thousands of innocent people were killed and injured. He used his fame to speak out on how he felt about the war.

Picasso's Blue Period ended when he fell in love. He started using happier colors and did many paintings of the circuses he attended regularly.
