The magazine costs £3.50 so it is not cheep however it is not overly expenisve. This shows the reader/audience that the magazine is of high quality and only a small amount of people can afford to buy it regually, this makes the reader feel like part of the club and special therefore boosting there ego making it more likely for a repeat purchase . Because the magazine cover is so subtle it suggests that it has no need to be flash and bold because the poeple who will buy it are 'in the know' and know that the magazine will porvide then with their needs.
The main cover image has engaged a direct address with the audience, this has the effect that it looks as though she is looking at you in person therefore creating a bond with the audience bringing them into her story. because her eyes are wide open and blue this has stereotypically symbolized innocence and honesty suggesting to the audience that this is intimate and and honest, this helps the audience identify with her.
There is a distinct lack in cover lines on the image the only cover lines are in the center at the bottom of the page not the focus at all, this suggests that the magazine does not need to advertize what is inside it because it is so elite that as soon as you see the name you already know its contents are going to be high quality, it makes the reader/ audience feel like they are in the club. Also because the cover lines are the same simple white as the mast head it makes the front cover look understated and therefore sophisticated, flattering its audience by suggesting you have to be sophisticated to read this.
The cover image covers the
whole of the front cover of the magazine, it is a big close up on a female face. this is getting into her intimate zone that would not normally be entered unless you knew her, this appeals to the the audience as it suggests that you will be 'in the know'. The colors within the image are Vivid pinks and blues coupled with stark whites which contrast strongly with each other, they are very feminine colors but there brightness has connotations of excitement and power which would be an appealing representation of the target audience of late teenage to mid twenty year old women.
The magazines masthead has a bold and blocky sans serif font making it jump out of the page. Because the mast head in in capital letters it looks as though the name of the magazine is being shouted out, suggesting that it is something that is worth talking about or other people knowing you have it in your possession, that it is something to be proud of. The white text has connotations of purity and innocence which is juxtaposed against the violence of the word 'Clash'. Because the masthead is covering the cover image it suggests to the audience that the
magazines brand is something to show off and be proud of, that it does not matter what they have inside it because the brand can stand alone.
The main cover line is the only text within the cover that is serif and a completely different font. This makes it stand out against the other cover lines. The typography makes it look very indie and quirky. The words 'Girrl Power' sounds like a team shout or and exclamation but also makes the audience think of things like 'Flower power' which suggests that the magazine is into festivals and mass movements like the flower power movement. that it has a reason.
