Brainstorm
initial ideas for music video
I have created this Prezi Presentation to display my first few ideas about what I want to include in the music video. I have linked some of these ideas to the lyrics, and you can see these through the annotations I have included in the image on the blog post.
TAYLOR SWIFT-
NEVER GROW UP
I printed off the lyrics and started to annotate around the lyrics to start forming ideas about the music video. I have ideas that for each verse is one stage of growing up. This correlates with the meaning of the lyrics.
I also have some ideas about transitions. As the song is slow, I think fading transitions would look effective because the artist's youth is fading away. Also it is a soft and subtle transition that will flow with the appearance of the music video.
I have ideas about other footage I can film myself, maybe the artist holding an hourglass timer to show time is running out and we are all growing up as well as the artist looking through old photos and walking around her hometown.
The second chorus says 'no one's ever burned you, no one's ever left you scarred', I think it would be appropriate to put in found footage of adults or young adults smoking or even clips of fireworks as it relates to the literal meaning of the 'fire' aspect of the lyric.
The final chorus, I have an idea to merge the found footage together to show the artist's reflection on growing up and life as a whole.
The chorus will be focused on the artist singing and playing guitar with short clips of found footage relating to the lyrics. For example, footage of a young couple or a wedding video when it says 'let no one break your heart' and 'no one will desert you' as it relates to love.
The second verse is about being a teen and the problems youths face. Therefore, I think it is appropriate to insert found footage of people my age so that it is relatable to the audience. It may also be important for me to film a lot of the artist in this verse as she is a young teen who experiences these problems.
At the beginning I am planning to insert baby videos that link with the words. It symbolizes the beginning of growing up when you are innocent and dependent on others.
