Media institutions are important in the production of films
Would an institution consider distributing out product
Considering the factors of my film which includes acting, location, equipment and the limitations due to experience I believe that a good media institution such as Time Warner would not distribute our product. This is because our equipment and experience is not brilliant our sequence would not be good enough for such a huge institution. I believe that if my group were to keep producing sequences our ability would improve but our equipment would not. To be able to become successful, films need to have scenes which blow the audience away which is not possible for us as we do not have CGI or equipment to do so.
Sony Pictures
When taking into consideration what film company would distribute my film, I thought that Sony Pictures would be best suited. This is because it is a well-known company and would be able to bring our thriller a lot of success and customers, therefore allowing making profit on this so instead of breaking even, my group and I’s hard work pays off for the better. due to Sony’s well-known, excellent reputation we would have chosen this company to distribute my thriller. Sony has distributed thrillers such as Insidious 1 and 2, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, No Good Deed, Enough and many more. These are successful thrillers with a large audience and so by having Sony distribute my thriller I would gain a large backing too.

Media institutions are important in the production of films because they play an important role in the distribution of the film in the market. This is why they are important because without them, films would not be able to become successful as they would not be shown to a large audience which will therefor decrease the amount of ticket sales/views they get. In addition media institutions fund films for production, giving them money for equipment or to spend on actors to make their final product better than if they were not to be funded. They are also responsible for the advertising of films as they can put the trailers before other films which will raise awareness of the film to the public.
Having a high profile media institution distribute my media sequence there arm ant things in which need to be assessed before actual going through with it. If my film was to flop under Sony Pictures it could have a negatve effect on the future sales of a Sony Picture distribution so therefore I believe I should go for a smaller company such as Film 4 as it may then be deemed as successful under a smaller company rather than being a flop under a huge company.
