The students are now able to create a fresh and innovative presentation. Students no longer use basic PowerPoint and are able to use Prezis for class presentations and assessments. Prezis allows students to create their own style by customizing their own themes, while being able to insert music, voice overs, images, diagrams, and YouTube videos to their presentations.
This digital tool is able to be used by students for various curriculum activities including oral presentations in English, concept maps for science, recipes for home economics, or timelines for history. They can also simply create an imaginative story by having a different slide to act as a scene, add images, and even include a voice over reading the story. This tool would be great in both primary and secondary classrooms. Students would be able to add their own flair to these presentations. Prezi also allows students to save their presentations onto USB drives and as PDF files to open on various other computers.
A Prezi allows support for student centered-learning within the classroom. Students are now able to easily comment on each others Prezis to give feedback and start discussion with their other class peers. Questions, discussions and feedback are all student generated with the help of this technology. Students are now in control of their own learning. Teachers are also able to monitor the progress of students work and give feedback via the comment section.
Using Prezis in the classroom gives the opportunity for teachers to present information to their students without giving them handouts, writing with pen and paper, and to keep them engaged and enjoying learning. The use of handouts and PowerPoint presentations has been 'substituted' into a new innovative digital tool known as a Prezis.
