Stages of a Butterfly

Ms. Brown | SC.2.L.16.1

Stage 4: Adult (Butterfly)

A butterfly comes out of the chrysalis and can now learn to fly and find a mate.

Once a mate is found it lays eggs and cycle starts all over again.

Stage 3: Pupa (Chrysalis)

This is when a caterpillar is done growing.

This is known as the resting/changing stage because this is when it starts to change into a butterfly.

Changes quickly.

Stage 2: Larva (Caterpillar)

Really small when first hatches but grows quickly because all they do is eat leaves and flowers.

Stays in this stage for a long time.
