Question #6
What Have You Learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
We used the digital cameras to set out our story board of the film, we took pictures in step by step order of how the sequence is going to go and what camera angles and movements we will be using.
We used the Sony HD big cameras to film the opening sequence outside. We also used the small Sony HDV Digital HD camera to film our title sequence inside. When using the cameras a tripod was used to gain more control and steadiness throughout.
On the Apple macs we used final cut pro, this was so we could all have a chance at our own individual edits. We then joined them together to make the final opening sequence and edited our clips for the title sequence in final cut, we edited and added effects like bad tv and colour correction over the top to make it fit the conventions of a thriller.
As a group we were not confident with using the cameras, final cut and garageband, as we have never used them before for filming.
We used garageband to create a soundtrack which was suitable for the opening of our thriller film, we then added our foley into it creating a believable track for our opening piece which would help to create the mood and atmosphere of a thriller.
We have used blogger throughout the process of creating our thriller opening, we have updated it with the ideas that we started with and how they progressed to the final film. We have never used blogger before and learned how to use it over time.
Foley is an important part of the film for defining the sounds around the location, adding foley into our opening sequence helped with the effects to make it realistic this was done using a mobile phone. The wind was added in the background to show the isolation of the location.
As we filmed at night there was lack of lighting apart from the street lights above which did not have set the right lighting we needed, because of this we used the lights supplied to help create low-key lighting in the location and to create the right isolated atmosphere.
Bubbl.us was used for brainstorming the ideas in the way of a mind map. We used this to put all of our ideas together to help with the research and planning of our opening sequence, by using bubbl.us it was easy to understand the thriller genre as it was clear to see.
Our finished thriller opening has been posted on to many social networking sites such as youtube, facebook and twitter. We asked for feedback with thoughts and opinions on our final edit.
From beginning to end we have learnt to use garageband to create a suitable soundtrack for our film by experimenting with different sounds and effects to portray the best thriller genre.
