"I lost most of my close friends for going to Science Leadership Academy." - Jules James
When I used to go to George Wharton Pepper Middle School I was a quiet, good, and shy little girl who was too scared to express her feelings but I've changed. Before I started my high school, Science Leadership Academy, I thought I was going to act the same way I did in middle school but no. That's not how it turned out. Now I'm a loud, still kind of a good girl who always express her feelings. I think the reason I've changed was because when I got to high school everyone was very nice and talkative and I didn't want to be a stand out so I decided be a little bit like them.
In both of else books, when the main characters change their locations their whole life change too.
Before I came to Science Leadership Academy some people said I was either going to be white when I come out of high school or I was going to be a few shades lighter because SLA was basically full of white people. They would also say that I decided to get a white education other than a black one because I was too good for it. None of this was really the case. I just thought that SLA was a good and challenging school for me. But that's not what they saw. They took me as a trader.
As I read these books..
In The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, the main character, Arnold, was an Indian who lived on a reservation and went to school there too. But one day he decided that he wanted to go to a rich, white people school and people on the reservation didn't like that because they thought he was being a trader. When he started to attend to Reardan, the people on the reservation was extremely mean to him especially when he was at his basketball game. This is when someone threw something at him and made him bleed. No one on the reservation liked him at this time, including his best friend, Rowdy.
In conclusion, just like Marji and Arnold, my location change my relationship with the people I knew and it also changed me on the inside and outside.
