Name Ideas

I have spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect name for my magazine. I wanted to make sure i captured the theme and genre of the magazine within the name so it is recognisable and rememberable. I want it to stand out from other magazines and have a catchy name that people will always know. The top 5 names i have norrowed it down to are:

  • Signed
  • Beat
  • Distort
  • Amplify
  • Tone

Signed- This is the best name i have thought of as it reflects the contents of the magazine, as its about new upcoming artists which have recently been 'signed'. iT also sounds sophisticated and will appeal to my target audience because its simple, yet effective.

Beat- I like this because it ties in with the music theme and instantly tells the audience that it is a music magazine. Its simple and straight to the point. However i am not sure how well it fits in with the genre of Indie/Rock.

Distort- This came to mind when i was thinking about the genre of my magazine. It links directly with the genre and music in general. I think its effective and the target audience will think its unique and different as there is nothing like this already. However im not too sure if it will be catchy and become well known.

Amplify- This is generally related to guitars which could ink with my cover image if i choose to incorporate a guitar within it. This symbolises the theme of rock/indie well and i tihnk it would appeal to the target audience as lots of people are interested in bands which always use amps. Therefore the name is very relevant to the magazine and people will recognise it.

Tone- I am not as keen on this last idea as i think its not very catchy and will not be rememberable. It links well with the idea of music and the magazine idea, however it may not look effective on the cover and would be hard to adapt in differnt issues of the magazine.
