EXPERIMENTING WITH FONT AND COLOUR:

After deciding we liked this electronic look we went into exploring it further. Looking into using different coloured sticky notes and letters. We also looked into possible fonts. We found that using the multicoloured sticky notes made them look as if they weren't sticky notes and look childish, and so we decided to just use the yellow ones for our title. The font that we found and liked was one called "Handwriting Dako" we liked this as it acted as a symbol for the boy writing onto the sticky notes. We found that changing the colour of the letters looked original but we weren't sure if it looked sophisticated enough and so we may decide to just keep it simple and use black text.

Finally..

OVERALL:

Overall we found that we could combined the idea of using stop frame animation with the heart made out of sticky notes as well as the electronic sticky note feature for out film title. This would combine the two effective features of making film titles.

We thought about trying to make the heart seem more romantic and interesting to look at and so we added a arrow through it. We liked this look but wondered if it look sleek enough for our film, as we didn't want it to come across and childish. Although we felt it could work as a symbol of the protagonists love struck state throughout the film. Overall we felt that using sticky notes as the backdrop for our film titles proved effective and we will definitely consider using them in the final title roll of the film.

Other Options:

OTHER OPTIONS:

We experimented with possible ways of presenting our film title to come up. We felt that the best way to do it was electronically. We thought about perhaps using the MacBook feature of electronic sticky notes. We found this feature very effective. We wanted the letters of the title to appear one by one and so experimented by creating a practice one using just a simple font and a black text colour. We felt this looked good and proffesional whilst still conveying the theme of our film.

We considered using Photoshop to create our heart made out of sticky notes. Agatha followed a tutorial and created a sophisticated heart shape out of electronic sticky notes. The only issue that this presented was that we wanted to show the sticky notes blowing away after the titles have appeared to symbolise the protagonists failed love attempts.

Paper Sticky Notes:

Myself and Amber started by creating a heart made out of yellow sticky notes, we thought about perhaps writing the titles onto the sticky notes and then using stop frame animation to have them appear in a heart shape. We started by making a hollow heart, to act as a symbol for the protagonists unloved and loneley state; but soon discovered that this would be impractical as there would be limited space to write the titles on the notes and it would look small and not have a big impact on an audience.

Next..

THE FILM TITLE:

We then thought about perhaps filling in the heart with sticky notes, as this would not only make a bolder statement but would also allow us room to write our titles onto them. It would also mean that our titles would not be positioned at angles and so the audience could clearly make them out whilst still seeing the heart shape.

We started by writing out the name of the film, "Checkout" in capitals onto yellow sticky notes; one note for each letter. Although we felt that this looked childish and unprofessional. It also didn't have the strong impact we desired and so we felt that the computer would provide us with a range of options as to fonts colours and size and so we felt that the title of the film would best be made on the computer.
