Sarah Dessen is an average author. She was born June 6, 1970 in Illinois. She grew up mostly Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Dessen studied creative writing at the University of North Carolina and earned a degree in English there. By the year 1996, Dessen had published her first book, 'That Summer'.

Sarah Dessen has won many awards. She has won 10 awards on the following books; Along for the Ride, Just Listen, Lock and Key, and The Truth About Forever. One of those awards was the Indigo Teen Read Award, 2010 Nominee Best Read Canada for her book Along for the Ride. This same book also a #1 New York Times Best Seller.
