There are many genres. Here are just some of them and their main conventions and examples:
- Pop- has a narrative, dancing, different locations
- Rock - fast paced cuts, dark, band playing live
- House- located in clubs usually, strobe lighting
- RnB- tends to have a narrative, features artist
- Hip Hop- urban locations
- Punk- bands playing live, fast paced, features bands
- Grime- urban locations, features artist
Our Chosen Genre
For this project, we have chosen the genre of Pop/RnB music. This is because it is the most popular and mainstream music genre ever. This means that its video conventions are easily noticed, such as dancing, a narrative and various locations. Therefore, in our music video and digi pack we will be using these conventions in our work.
The song we have chosen to use is Beyonce 'I Care'.
In the video, we will use a narrative, various locations and special effects, such a black and white or rewinding footage.
We will also create a colour scheme for the album and advert that is suitable for the song and genre.
