I look forward to seeing your videos--or touts--as they are called!
by Megan Washington
Tout was created by Michael Downing and officially went live (after beta testing) in 2011.
The platform gained popularity roughly two months later when Shaquille O'Neal used the service to announce his retirement from the NBA.
Users are able to record videos directly from their mobile devices (apps available for iPhone and Android) and computers and upload them straight to Tout.
In 2012, it was reported that Tout had 12 million site visitors with 75 million touts created.
According to Forbes, in 2013 Tout had 19 million users.
That shows that the platform did experience growth with seven million additional users in that one year timespan.
Quantcast reports that Tout visitors also enjoy babies, sports, science & technology, regional/local news and news/information. It also measures the domain at 1.5 million unique users each month.

If you notice, under the video there is a bar full of options for how you can send and share your touts with everyone. These options include posting to Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, copying the link to the video and copying the embed code to the video.
Tout widgets can be placed directly on your website if you are a paid member.
Tout is a microblogging social media platform that allows users to upload fifteen second videos in real-time (with the exception to Tout Pro & Enterprise members–they can exceed the fifteen seconds).
Another example of how brand's are using Tout: People Magazine and the Los Angeles News Group touted the 2014 Oscars highlights from Backstage and Red Carpet, captured via the Tout mobile application.
